Okay, how does this happen, people? Somebody planted marjiuana in a few flower pots in Chestnut Hill and nobody told me. And now they’re gone, gone, gone, thrown away by someone who clearly didn’t know the prices he could have gotten on the open market.
It appears to be some sort of prank (duh), according to the Daily News, who got the story tip and some blurry photos of the potted weed — “America’s favorite,” the DN says — in what one landscaper says is some sort of attempt to embarrass Chestnut Hill.
Sadly, though, no embarrassment happened, and no smoking happened, either:
“I did the right thing,” said Bob Markowski, the landscaper in charge of keeping the planters watered and weeded. “I got rid of them. They’re in the dump.”
Uh, Mr. Markowski? Which dump? I mean, I’m just curious, that’s all.

The saddest news of the day — nay, the month — is contained in a small brief on the inside pages of today’s Inquirer: NJ Weedman is moving to California.
The superhero to the potheads, whose legal name is Ed Forchion, has run for pretty much every offce in the state of New Jersey, actually taking fifth in the recent gubernatorial election. He’s tried to change his name to NJWeedman.com. And, naturally, he’s been arrested a few times due to his stance on the legalization of marijuana, as well as his love of smoking it out in the open.
According to the Inky, the usually unemployed trucker decided to hightail it out of town for several reasons: He recently caused $6,000 of damages to his truck after hitting a deer (and then his transmission went), and his ex-wife was able to successfully deny him the right to visit his daughter.
After all this turmoil, the Weedman is moving to southern California, where he’ll manage a cannibis club, delivering the oh-so-legal (well, kinda) reefer to the sick people who need it. No word if he’ll be changing the name of his official website, NJWeedman.com — which is excellent, by the way, complete with lots of different colors, typos, talk of revolution and odd rants about Howard Stern not listening to him — or his NJ Weedman Myspace profile.
But we’d like to pour out this bong water on the curb and wish NJ Weedman a fond farewell. May you never have to face Alberto Gonzalez.

By now — if you’re an internet-addicted American between the ages of 15 and 35 — you’ve probably seen the video from Saturday Night Live titled “The Chronicles of Narnia Rap.”
I got the link Monday morning from a buddy of mine who sent it to me with the subject, “Look, SNL finally did something funny.” A friend who IMed it to me last night said “Best thing on SNL this year. In the last five years.” A few of you have e-mailed me the link. (What can I say, I’m a depository for funny.) And I’ve seen it linked on a ton of blogs with some sort of “Best video ever!” tagline.
Time for some big cultural pronoucement/prediction/etc.: Putting this online was the smartest thing SNL could have done. The song is great, but, really, who watches Saturday Night Live anymore? Big companies are always worried about people trading files and videos and they have every right to be, but sometimes if you just let it happen it gives more publicity for the show — and hey, maybe some of those people will tune in next week to the show.
But what it really also taught us: All you have to do is make jokes about weed and we twentysomethings just eat it up. I was going to finish this thought, but then I got high. (Rimshot.)
