Not In Your Occupied Country, ‘Scumbag’

Late last year, the Upper Darby police department — and its ubiquitous media whore police superintendent, Michael Chitwood — began selling t-shirts that read “Not in my town SCUMBAG!”

KYW 1060 now reports these shirts are “very popular,” perhaps due to their liberal use of needless quotes. They’re so popular a bunch of soldiers in Iraq are now getting them free, thanks to the Chitwood and Upper Darby police department. A woman from Upper Darby sported the shirt over in the sandbox, and apparently everyone was all into the shirts. (Will they get the “SCUMBAG” bumper stickers too?)

“I think that when you look at the analogy between Iraq and here in Upper Darby, you’re dealing with scumbags, you know. In Upper Darby it’s drug dealers, rapists, robbers but in Iraq, you’ve got terrorists who are killing American troops or killing civilians.”

Hey, this is a pretty good analogy, since the War on Drugs is going about as well as the War in Iraq.

And Counting, Really…

As you may have heard about 48 times already today, May 1 is the first anniversary of President Bush’s “Mission Accomplished” speech. Yes, it was four years ago that we won the Iraq war! Duh!

Anyway, Good Day Philadelphia’s Clayton Morris chimed in this morning on the subject, and as you might have guessed, it’s a beauty:

It’s hard to believe that 4 years ago today President Bush landed on that aircraft carrier announcing “Mission Accomplished.” The war is, of course, a long forgotten memory; but whatever happened to that fantastic banner? Does someone have it? Is it hidden in someone’s closet? Who knows? What do you think should happen to that banner?

1. Put it on display at the George W. Bush Presidential library?

2. Sell it on Ebay?

3. Ask for their money back?

4. Not sure?

Normally I’d just think he’s kidding about the “long forgotten memory” part, but, remember, Fox 29 meteorologist David Aldrich doesn’t believe in global warming.

I’m actually down with item #3, though. I want my $421 billion back!

Shocking News: Pro Wrestler Violent

On Friday, Metro interviewed “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, pro wrestler and star of The Condemned, which nobody went to see when it opened this past weekend. (Steve Austin, apparently, believes in global warming because “it seems like it just keeps getting warmer and warmer.”) The interview opened with this:

The White House has been searching for a new war czar in Iraq. If you were war czar, what would your strategy be?

Hell, I’d say — you want me to take a hard stand on this thing?

Sure.
I’d say, bomb ‘em. I’d just bomb the hell out of them, that’s my take on it. The long story short, just drop the bomb on ‘em.

With talk like that, you’d think Stone Cold would actually be named new war czar in a day or two. But all this interview did, apparently, was enrage an emailer, who wants more diplomacy from our nation’s pro wrestlers.
