One of the best aspects of television news is the sometimes weird transitions that happen in reports. Someone will be crushed by, say, a pile of bananas, and they’ll move on and go, “Also crushed today were Phillies fans when the game was rained out!”
It happens inside stories, too. It doesn’t seem to happen as much in newspapers — maybe it’s easier to see how unintentionally funny it sounds in print? — but it happened last night on The 10 O’Clock News, on a story about a stabbing at Cabrini College:
Really? You think that’d end the fun? You sure?
