Cops raid Jersey show (Or: ‘You’re in my town now, so shut up!’)

One of the best things about modern technology (besides allowing me to have a job doing this) is that when something crazy happens nowadays, there are always 20-30 people with camera phones, digital cameras and even video cameras able to record the incident at a moment’s notice.

Consider Saturday night’s Yah Mos Def show in Williamstown, N.J.: Some kid stole a sign in the bathroom, and the owner of the show called the cops. According to people there, the cops came in and said “one more song.” When Amateur Party played said last song, the cops ended up cuffing the show’s promoter and yelling at a bunch of people recording the event.

And, thanks to Brian Poerner, we have it from here. Nothing too spectacular happens, except for a cop saying “You’re in my town now, so shut up!” and a kid (about 16) who says “We have the responsibility as citizens to record this.” (This kid is my new hero, and much more brave/clever than I was at 16.)

It’s only a minute and a half. It contains cursing, so if you have a ridiculous company policy on the Internet, you may want to wait until you get home.
