Smerconish: Bush Makes Bold Choice For Aspartame

Daily News conservative pundit Michael Smerconish weighs in on President Bush saying the word “shit” at the G8 summit earlier this week, and says he’s not okay with it. But, unlike those who think the President saying “shit” is going to implode America, Smerconish actually makes a pretty good, amusing point.

Why, he says, can Bushie say “shit” when I’ll get fined $325,000 if I do so, due to FCC regulations? (Showing, of course, that the threat of a loss of money transcends political preferences.) It’s a fun point, and the thought of someone fining the President of the United States for saying “shit” is kind of awesome.

While I covered this briefly earlier today, I must expand on Smerconish’s other point. He says while he thinks it’s a little, well, bullshit that the Prez is allowed to say shit while he can’t, he does like the shoot first, ask questions later attitude Bushie’s showing at the G8 conference. He likes the idea of “They need to stop doing this shit.” And, really, he likes the President’s swift attempt at choosing a soft drink:

Here’s hoping we get more of the G8 version. Let him go with his gut, and do more telling it like it is. [...]

Like a traveling businessman, W was anxious to go home: “Gotta go home. Got something to do tonight. Go to the airport, get on the airplane and go home.”

W at G8 on Pepsi vs. Coke: “No, Diet Coke, Diet Coke.”

In conclusion: Michael Smerconish likes that the president sounds like Dustin’s Hoffman’s character from Rain Main, and that he doesn’t flip flop on soft drink preferences.

“You keep telling it like it is, Bush! Real men drink Diet Coke! Gotta watch Wapner!”
