Black, White And Dead Behind The Eyes

Okay, the Northeast Times is just baiting, now. First off, there’s a letter in this week’s edition titled, “Stop the injustice against the MOVE 9!” Right. Then, there’s this:

The debate continues, in black and white

In response to Melissa S. Tulin’s letter in the July 3 edition (She’s tired of the stereotypes), I suggest that she comprehend what my original letter stated before she claims others are racist simply because they disagree with her.

This way of thinking is exactly what I was talking about. Once again, African-Americans claim that they want to be “judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin,” when reality proves otherwise.

You state that some studies suggest that white women are the main beneficiaries of affirmative action, but you somehow omit the fact that on the whole, they outscore the African-American applicants.

Secondly, you correctly state the fact that unemployment is higher among black people, but you never mention why. Statistically, blacks score lower than others and a higher percentage are incarcerated. If you were an employer, who would you hire? Lastly, as a whole, crime and the quality of life is negatively affected when African-Americans move in. If you need proof, ride throughout the city and tell me different.

Yep. And when you let white people write letters to the editor, you get the stupidest argument styles possible. If you need proof… etc., etc.

We Sure All Are [Descendants] Of King Tut

052107kingtut.jpg

A group of about 50 protested the King Tut exhibition at the Franklin Institute yesterday, including Temple prof. Molefi Asante, who said: “This is an area of criminal theft, identity theft.” Somebody needs a Capital One card.

The identity thief here is the King Tut exhibit, which protesters said shows King Tut as white — “looks more like Boy George than the boy king” — and doesn’t mention Egypt is in Africa, leading people to believe Egypt is in Europe. (If someone thinks Egypt is in Europe, he or she most likely has bigger problems than thinking King Tut was white.) The exhibit has been protested since it arrived in America, and the Franklin Institute will be holding a symposium where everyone will be calm and nice to each other this summer.

Also, wait ’til these people find out most people probably believe Jesus was a pale white dude rather than a Middle Eastern guy. But even that wouldn’t stop hot dog vendor George Williams, who knows that King Tut is all about togetherness:

George Williams, who is black and operates a pretzel cart in front of the museum, said he believes that King Tut is a piece of history all people share.

“Regardless if he was black or white, we’re all equal and we’re all [descendants] of King Tut,” he said. “We can love each other.”

Wait, who is King Tut again? He apparently sired the entire human race and I think I’ve gotten him confused with someone else.

Penn: NBA’s 8 White Players Have Advantages

050207bradley.jpg

An assistant professor at Penn and a Cornell graduate student recently released a study that says — get this! — black players in the NBA are subject to racism from NBA officials. My God! When will Mark Cuban weigh in?!

The study was conducted over 13 seasons up to 2004 and found “black players receive around 0.12-0.20 more fouls per 48 minutes played (an increase of 2½-4½ percent) when the number of white referees officiating a game increases from zero to three.”

The NBA, of course, said the study was bollocks, especially since it used box scores, which don’t say which official made the call. And by that I mean, whether a black or white official made the call. Still, the study said the racist NBA refs call falls out black players “is large enough that the probability of a team winning is noticeably affected by the racial composition of the refereeing crew.”

Damn! No wonder the 76ers didn’t make the playoffs this year: Shavlik Randolph was hurt all season, and all they had was Kyle Korver and a bunch of guys getting 5 percent more fouls! This also explains why the Boston Celtics were always so good way back when.

America’s Best Columnist Strikes Again

041607friendlyfire.jpg

A press release came over the transom Friday afternoon from Bulletin columnist Chris Freind.

You might remember Freind from his column about what a great columnist he is last month. You might also be asking: Why did you get a press release from a columnist for a local paper? (Well, technically, a few people sent it to me, but still.)

Why, sort of the same idea as with Freind’s column: He’s the only American columnist who isn’t a spineless wimp or permanently attached to either George Bush’s or Barack Obama’s jock.

Subject: Philadelphia’s “Freindly Fire”takes aim at hypocrisy of Bruce Gordon, Sharpton and Jackson

Dear Editor:

I author a twice-weekly commentary column for the Philadelphia Bulletin, branded “Freindly Fire” (a play on my last name). My national reader response rate is extremely high because of my “take no prisoners” style and the fact that I tackle issues with rare candor and a unique critical eye.

Accordingly, attached please find my latest column, scheduled to appear in The Bulletin’s Weekend print and online editions. It chastises the outright racial hypocrisy of CBS Director (and former NAACP head) Bruce Gordon, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson, especially poignant given that all charges were dropped against the Duke University lacrosse players.

Please feel free to run the column or contact me for further comment or an interview. I am available around the clock.

I will also be issuing an explosive challenge to all three men early next week.

A headshot is available.

Best Regards,
Christopher W. Freind

Wow! I didn’t know of any other person who pointed out Al Shapton et al might not exactly be saints themselves!

This column must be a masterpiece. Let’s go check it out the first sentence on the Bulletin’s website!

America may well be closer to an all-out race war than it has been in 40 years.

Well, that’s it for me, folks. Full email — featuring a Chris Freind bio (!) — after the jump.

Just recently has our nation begin to trust white Irish Catholics again after the Oklahoma City bombing

Over the weekend in Bensalem there was a five-hour seminar aimed at speaking openly about race. A fine idea, I suppose. I mean, they could have all just gone to see Crash, but a seminar’ll do.

The reverend leading the group encouraged the people to speak up about their own prejudices and any racial incidents that made them uncomfortable. A cop responded:

“I still can’t bring myself to trust people who are Middle Eastern,” a cop said.

You know what’s scarier than that? The people who feel that way and don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. At least this dude is admitting it.
