A Nonanswer On Tierney’s Future

A lot to write about the bankruptcy filing of Philadelphia Media Holdings, but I’m trying to think first for once. (About the content. The jokes are already done.)

I needed to write about this, though. Daily News editor Michael Days sent out a Q&A the company sent out to its employees. And check this out:

Will Brian continue to be CEO? Will the management team stay in place?

Brian as well as the rest of the management team remain actively engaged and committed to this company.

You have to give management over at 400 N. Broad credit. Not too many companies have the ability to dodge a question in their own Q&A! Impressive.

Q&A On The Smoking Ban

061606smokingban.jpg City Council’s passing of the Smoking Ban (With Exceptions!) kind of took lots of people by surprise, since (a) City Council hadn’t been able to pass it on three previous tries and (b) it hadn’t been publically talked about before Thursday’s final session before summer break.

To help you sort out the smoking ban, here’s a helpful question and answer on the smoking ban, from your friends at Philadelphia Will Do. (Just kidding. It won’t be helpful.)

Q: So no smoking in public anymore?
A: Uh, yeah. According to the law, which still has to be signed by Mayor Street, smoking is banned all stores, offices, restaurants, bars, apartment lobbies and hallways, theaters, stadiums, any workplace and within 20 feet of any entrance to a building where smoking is banned. Yes, City Council has actually stopped you from smoking in your disgusting apartment hallway.
