Poll: Obama Down A Billion Points

041608barryobama.jpg

Remember two days ago, when Obama was 20 points down?

Well, forget it! In just 2 days, he’s clawed to within 6 points of Hillary Clinton! Why, in just a few more days, he’ll have over 100 percent of the vote.

Okay, so maybe this is why you shouldn’t trust polls from American Research Group, or really, trust any polls all that much. Or, actually, you probably really shouldn’t trust one that doesn’t make any sense because one candidate is 20 points up all of a sudden. I mean, come on, look at the trends, why would somebody suddenly be up 20 points? Or maybe it’s just a poll and you take it with a grain of salt anyway.

Nothing, of course, could stop people from reporting it as gospel and won’t stop them from doing it again and again until the world ends. The end.

Rendell And The Racists Push Clinton Ahead

021508clintonfaith.jpg

Quinnipac University recently released a poll of “likely democratic voters” in Pennsylvania taken from Feb. 6 - 12 and Hillary Clinton is way, way ahead. She’s up 52-36 against Barry Obama in the state, and — bucking a national trend — beats McCain (46-40) easier than Obama (42-41) does.

Yes, it’s still a way to the election, and Bill Clinton could dress up in blackface (or whatever he did in South Carolina) again and make everyone hate his wife and vote for Obama. Hillary’s been leading the polls in Pennsylvania since early 2007, hence her role as the frontrunner early on.

Anyway, Rendell’s “some white people won’t vote for a black man” comments were published on Feb. 10 (I believe), so youse should all be able to blame him for Hillary’s lead.

Update: The Inquirer editorial board makes a funny! “Ed Rendell had better stick to Eagles games whenever he feels the urge to be a color analyst.”

Stupid Poll Says Philadelphians Love Online Shopping

112707cybermonday.jpg

Hey, did you go shopping online on Monday? No? But it was “Cyber Monday,” the first day of the online holiday shopping season! Okay, who cares it’s not the biggest day for online sales and it was actually made up by online retailers and reported on by an all-too-lazy media as truth, hello, it was Cyber Monday! The holiest day of the online shopping year!

Okay, so maybe (i.e. definitely) Cyber Monday isn’t real. (The graphic on this post, by the way, is from a Google Image Search for “Cyber Monday.”) But that hasn’t stopped Philadelphians from shopping online, as we apparently lead the country in online shoppers.

Apparently, Philadelphians are too ugly to shop in actual stores, so 79 percent of Philadelphians surveyed by notoriously inaccurate pollster Zogby will buy at least some Christmas presents online. And forty percent have used a cell phone to “comparison shop.” OMG!

Wait, do 40 percent of Philadelphians even have cell phones that would allow them to shop online?

Michael Nutter Wins Mayoral Election

102507nutterwins.jpg

With 0% of the precincts reporting and polls not closed for 12 days and 20 hours, Philadelphia Will Do is declaring Michael Nutter the winner of the Philadelphia mayoral election. Nutter’s victory caps an incredible comeback that saw him at, like, Dwight Evans-type numbers in early 2007, yet he outsmarted everybody else on the way to primary and general election victory.

In an Oct. 25 Daily News/Keystone poll, Nutter led Taubenberger 83 percent to 8 among likely voters, but likely clinched the mayor’s office on May 15, the day of the Democratic primary. Nutter faces many challenges during his term in office, including a city pension plan in crisis, a high murder rate and a city that’s kinda dirty and, apparently, full of ugly people.

Philadelphia Will Do congratulates Michael Nutter on his impressive general election victory.

Four Percent Of Philadelphians Living In Fantasy World

There’s more than just horse race numbers in the latest Daily News Keystone Poll. Sure, the main results are the ones that show Tom Knox in the lead, but there’s a bit more interesting data, too.

For example, one of the questions asks if respondents have seen any television ads for the candidates. Eight-five percent have, 14 percent haven’t and one percent is in some sort of weird limbo of “not sure.”

The follow-up question asks whose ads are most memorable? Not surprisingly, Knox is in the lead with 53%, followed by Bob Brady at 18%, Michael Nutter at 8% and Dwight Evans at 7%.

And, of course, following that is Chaka Fattah at 4%.

Fattah has, of course, yet to run a single television advertisement. Maybe they were thinking of one of those NBC 10 promos with Renee Chenault-Fattah.

Philly Voters: Duh, I’ll Vote For The Guy From TV!

040507knoxTV.jpg

A new poll is out, and — whew! — does it look more and more likely Tom Knox is actually going to win this mayoral race. The new Daily News Keystone Poll shows Knox with a commanding seven-point lead over his closest challenger, Chaka Fattah.

The poll of Democratic voters reads like this: Knox 24%, Fattah 17%, Bob Brady 16%, Michael Nutter 12%, Dwight Evans 10%, Undecided 21%. Although Knox is in the lead, with 21% still undecided — and “undecided” not being an option come election day — it’s still pretty much anybody except Jesus White’s race.

Respondents to the poll said one of the key reasons for Knox’s lead is his constant television ad blitz. That supposedly accounted for Bob Brady’s rise in the polls, too. Not sure why Evans (and, to a lesser and more recent extent, Nutter) didn’t rise in the polls because of television, though, but maybe there’s only so many percentage points to go around. (100, to be precise.)

And if you’re tired of Knox on TV, well, get ready for more! Responding to KYW 1060 about a group attacking him for payday loans — “credit heroin,” they call it — Knox couldn’t take time out to respond:

Knox’s campaign says he was “too busy” filming another political commercial to respond to the coalition.

By May, pretty much the only things on television will be Tom Knox ads and American Idol.

Tom Knox To Depress His Way To Mayordom?

013107knox.jpg

The Daily News released a poll today about the 2007 Mayoral Election, one that puts Tom Knox within the margin of error of front-runner Chaka Fattah. This is, assumedly, due to his incessant ads on every TV show. (I think I saw one during WWE Smackdown!)

If you haven’t seen the ads, you’re missing out. They feature Tom Knox depressing the shit out of everyone. I’d be willing to wager that people are thinking about voting for Knox just to make him stop showing those damn depressing ads. “Oh, dammit, I’ll vote for you, just stop telling us about your crying mother and dead brother!” Knox should probably run ads saying “If I don’t win the mayoral election, I’m going to keep running these ads just to piss you off.” Who with a TV wouldn’t vote for him?

Oh, and if you’re wondering, Tom Knox has a Flickr account.

Will Bunch Just Had, Like, A Major Panic Attack

From the Inquirer today:

After almost two months of running nonstop TV ads across the state, Republican U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum appears to have made up ground in his race with Democratic opponent Bob Casey Jr. ¶ A Quinnipiac University poll released yesterday suggested that Santorum had closed to within 6 points of Casey after trailing by 18 points in June, with the senator gaining among Republicans, Democrats and independents alike. The recent Morning Call/Muhlenberg College poll showed a similarly narrowed gap.

Some Percentage Of Philadelphians Think City Is Moving In Some Direction

Philly.com has an Associated Press story today about a recent Keystone Poll taken by Franklin & Marshall College. Here’s the headline:

And a poll on the side of the story is, of course:

You see, this poll is different. It’s asking if Philly is moving in the right direction. Very different.
