Everything Working For Dodgers Pitcher

Jason Johnson pitched for the Dodgers last night; the reliever is diabetic and uses an insulin pump on the field.

Let’s listen how announcer Tom McCarthy worked it into the conversation last night.

Tom McCarthy - Insulin Pump

I hope Curt Schilling comes back, so McCarthy can say how Schill runs a charity for ALS. “And swinging at that breaking ball there will also destroy your brain and spinal cord cells!”

Phillies Still Out In Front

The Fightins (the blog, not the team) have a slideshow of Phillies announcer Gary Matthews’ different hats. (Yes, it’s still too hot for anyone to make any real news.) The Phillies lost to the Marlins last night, 5-4, but are still three up in the division. It would be nice to take the next 2 games, though.

Meanwhile, the Sports Complex has the most serious article ever written and it’s about Phillies’ announcers Gary Matthews and Tom McCarthy, who do innings 4 and 5: “I’m going to argue that the negative feelings that seemingly all of Philly has towards the two is 1. wrong and 2. shortsighted…. while most of the comments there did seem to trend towards ambivalence, still I’ve yet to find anyone outside of my immediate social circle who speaks of those two with high praise.”

Phillies play the Marlins again tonight at 7 with Cole Hamels pitching. A win and they’re 40-27 and four games up in the NL East. Exciting!
