Hey, Schuylkill Banks! Love the Web 2.0-esque logo, love the website design — and, hey, I even love the Schuylkill. I’ve been told kayaking is a blast there, too, and I hope to do it sometime soon.
But, uh, could you spell your name right in the title on the website?

Thanks to a reader, who alerted me to today’s Inquirer, specifically Page A34 — you know I wasn’t getting that deep into it — which contains this ad:

Cameraman, can we zoom in on that bottom part?

Not just that mistake. Who wrote this ad copy? Me? A teenage girl? Amazing.

Okay, yes, I know “kudo” is now a word and I know that back formations of words have happened before, but you know what: No. It’s incorrect. I almost always thing think (Editor’s note: I’m an idiot.) the “dumbing down of language” argument is really stupid, but since “kudos” was already singular there’s no reason to drop the ’s.’ For shame, Inquirer copy editor! You should know better.

Yesterday, I noted that the the graphic for “The 5″ in the Daily News was a little outdated, since the paper only had four news columnists now:

And, today, in the DN, we have a new slogan:

There better be a freelance copy editor check in the mail, guys.
Yesterday: Daily News: Four, five, who’s counting?

I was wondering how the Daily News was going to handle the whole “The 5″ thing. The DN organized its columnists into a thing called “The 5,” which was five columnists, five days a week, on Page 5. Well, the first day. Then they moved it off Page 5. Which is okay. Still five columnists, five days!
Then columnist Carla “Urban Warrior” Anderson left the paper, and now they’re left with a graphic that’s a little outdated:

If that’s a little hard to read (sorry, I needed to make it fit), it says “Five great columnists! Five days a week!” Which is now, of course, a lie. But, you know, the Daily News would have to edit its graphic in order to fix that. At this point, I fully expect them to stop publishing, say, Wednesdays — and still use that tagline.
