‘World News Tonight’ Hits The News Like A Linebacker

Dear World News Tonight:

I appreciate the esposé into the name Neveah, the fastest-growing name in the United States since we started keeping track of these things. I was surprised that it is now a more popular name than Melissa or even Amy. (Those are both better names, people! Sigh.) I admit, I tuned in with just two minutes to go in your broadcast so I could catch Jeopardy, but I don’t know if this was the best use of two minutes of your 22-minute broadcast.

But I’ve come up with a short list of some stories that might’ve replaced that ‘Neveah’ story for approximately 9 percent of your broadcast. Perhaps you covered all of these; I’m not sure. (As I said, I was watching a Tivo’ed Simpsons beforehand.) Anyway, here goes: The possible war with Iran, the genocide in Darfur, the general uneasiness of the NSA, Network neutrality on the Internet, he incredible cuteness of puppies, the current whereabouts of Yakov Smirnoff (he graduated from Penn earlier this week!) and, finally, a feature on me. I’m not really all that interesting of a guy, but I have long hair and I’m going to get it cut soon. Isn’t that worthy of a story?

Anyway, just wanted to send this along. Thanks.

And, seriously, people named their kid Neveah because the lead singer of P.O.D. did so?
