The Cosby court files

011006cosby.jpg In yet another story that Bill Cosby will no doubt say is due to the news media being out to get him, court arguments in a civil trial yesterday revealed that the entertainer signed a deal with the National Enquirer to get a prepublication edit on the interview he did with the supermarket tabloid.

Which isn’t a big deal, since it’s the National Enquirer, not the Inquirer or Daily News or Weekly World News. And, frankly, I don’t know if Cosby committed any crime or not, although he has been getting goofier with age — not that there’s anything wrong with it.

Yesterday’s hearings dealt with the civil suit brought against Cosby by Andrea Constand, a former official with the Temple basketball team who alleges Cosby sexually assaulted her at his mansion in 2004. And now the Associated Press — who is maybe getting into the supermarket tabloid business? — and Constand are suing moving to unseal the court papers, which Cosby had sealed last year.

It’s all very, well, not juicy right now, but obviously if there is any weird Cosby news coming out of this upcoming civil case, we’ll be all over it.
