Midge Rendell, Naomi Street To Tangle

Get your calendars out and open them to Friday, because have we got an event for you. None other than the first lady of Pennsylvania, Midge Rendell, will be taking on the first lady of Philadelphia, Naomi Street, in a no holds barred brawl… of Scrabble!

Yes, the two first ladies will square off in a Scrabble match on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Falls of Schuylkill branch of the Library. It’s all part of Philly Plays Scrabble® Month, which, uh, you probably just heard of now. (Way to have this event as a kick-off to the month, guys.)

Anyway, no word on just how long they two are playing, if they’re experienced players, etc., but let’s all root that they’re awfully competitive. Just wait until one of them puts down a questionable word and the other person challenges it. (Hopefully in front of cameras.) When politicians (or wives of politicians) compete, the only result can be ultimate embarrassment (for one or both) and ultimate hilarity (for the public).
