Mayor Nutter Takes On Gaper Delays

071508krysiuknutter.jpg

So, uh, the mayor helped Dorothy Krysiuk do traffic this morning on Good Day Philadelphia. Apparently the economy is so bad, Mayor Nutter needed to pick up a part-time job, just like how Ed Rendell does Eagles Post Game Live.

Redlasso clip after the jump. (P.S. Somebody get the mayor to dance with mascots next time.)

Finally, A Holiday We Can Really Celebrate

070708bindependenceday.png

The 4th of July? Eh. Today we get a holiday we can really be proud of, thanks to Mayor Nutter.

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter will issue a “BINdependence Day” Proclamation to approximately 200 city youth, junior block captains, community members and dignitaries. The City of Philadelphia has declared July 7, 2008 “BINdependence Day” to mark the completion of the expansion of single stream recycling for the City of Philadelphia. Residents all across the city will now be able to put all recyclables into one bin - any bin.

Yes, happy BINdependence Day, Philadelphians! Nutter’s release says he’ll be at Dilworth Plaza at 2 p.m. Truly this is a holiday where we should be shooting off fireworks like the world has never seen. I wonder if BINdependence Day is always going to be July 7 or if it’s always the Monday after the 4th. More importantly, I wonder if we’ll get off for it next year.

Nutter At ‘Sex’ Premiere, And More

052608nutter-drinking.jpg

Oh, how could I forget: Michael Nutter will attend the Philadelphia premiere of Sex and the City. The people at Terry Hines & Associates apparently offered the mayor a free ticket to tonight’s invite-only screening of the movie, and the mayor accepted.

To note: This item about the mayor attending the screening of Sex and the City led off Mike Klein’s Sunday column. Come on, you can make something up about one of the celebrities in town shooting a movie, nobody will care. Better yet, create a celebrity — or pick someone from the Internet.

And, here’s more: Catherine Lucey’s favorite SatC character is Miranda (I’d guess). Sweeney writes about the marketing tie-ins locally, but more importantly decries tired vibrator jokes. Thank you!

Okay, that’s enough, no more mentions of this movie.

Phillies Score 10 Safeties!

052608nutter.jpg

Phillyskyline’s Brad Maule sends along the above photo of Mayor Nutter celebrating Chase Utley’s three-run homer last night in the first inning. The Phillies fell behind by three runs early last night, but then went on a 20-2 run to obliterate the Rockies, 20-5.

The Phils scored 15 on Sunday in a 15-6 comeback win over the Astros and have improved their Pythagorean (expected) record by a ton (and their regular record by two wins also). Last night, the Phils scored 20 runs despite dealing with the menace of his-and-hers Chase Utley jerseys.

KYW Apparently Pushing Jail For Fliers

052208monopolyjail.jpg

KYW 1060 has yet another story on those race-baiting fliers and once again I am going to write about it. Apparently, the radio station is just extremely pissed off that we can’t go out and arrest those stupid skinheads who put them up and defamed Family Guy. Aargh, why can’t we just lock up people who say things with disagree with?

This latest story talks to Mayor Nutter and is headlined “Nutter Acknowledges Difficulty of Prosecuting Those Who Distributed Race-Baiting Fliers,” making me wonder if Nutter just wishes he could actually prosecute those who put up the fliers.

Fortunately, Mix Master Mike says nothing of the sort! “Much as we don’t like some things, we can’t always chase after people legally for things we don’t like,” he says, which sounds fine to me, I guess. And it certainly sounds better than notifying the authorities when you’ve been offended.

Sigh. Isn’t there somebody at KYW or the Human Rights Commission we can lock up for saying this stupid shit? Erhm.

Oh, yes, this is Mayor Michael Nutter with Albert Lee, this morning. Oh, yes.

Mayor Disappointed In Murder Suspect

050808nutter.jpg

Eric Floyd, the fugitive suspect in the slaying of police Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski, was captured yesterday. All good.

Then things got surreal:

Afterward, the mayor told reporters said he got within two feet of Floyd. “I looked him dead in the eye when he came in, and I told him how disappointed I was in him,” Nutter said. There was no response from the suspect, the mayor added.

Ooh, you showed him, Mr. Mayor! Two feet! Maybe someone can set up a trip for the mayor to death row where he can tell every killer how disappointed he is. “Don’t murder, guys! You might let the mayor down!”

Mayor Nutter Loses In Thumbwrestling

042408nutter-thumb.jpg

Clout today has a story of Mayor Nutter’s thumb-wrestling adventures during Take Your Daughter Daughters & Sons to Work Day.

The mayor stood for about 40 minutes shaking hands and taking pictures with all the kids in City Hall for the day. Clout reports one boy about 4 or 5 grabbed the mayor’s thumb for an impromptu throwdown.

The mayor lost. “He did take me down and I am… I am… really impacted,” Nutter said. “I’m dealing with it. By the end of the day, I’m going to track that kid down and demand a rematch.”

We all know Nutter is a big nerd from the way he wears a baseball jersey; but is he nerdy enough to play a game of Rock Paper Scissors? As you no doubt have heard, Philadelphia Will Do is now the official sponsor of timeouts for the RPS City League; I almost forgot to call a timeout during my one match Monday.

Tonight’s games are at The Dive starting around 9:30. Doesn’t look like I’ll be there, but if you go, call a timeout and support your local blogger. And I’ll work on challenging Mayor Nutter to a friendly game of RPS.

Nutter, Clinton Gaze Into Each Other’s Eyes

A very nice reader sent in a photo taken last night after the election. As you can tell from the shot, Hillary Clinton and Michael Nutter got married last night.

Angry Chelsea And Mayor Nutter!

This was on the debate, a few minutes ago. Whoo! Look how angry Chelsea Clinton is. Nutter looks pretty nerdy, as usual.
