Last week: The Phillie Phanatic. (Happy birthday, big buddy!) And today: The Robbins Diamonds guy.
This one actually includes some actual, uh, pretty good dancing. The Robbins guy can really shake his money maker, and Jen Fred busts a movie today as well. Even the security director seems more into it today.
Also, this sketch (skit? news segment? hard-hitting investigative report?) seems to keep getting longer and longer. Pretty soon it’s going to take up about a full hour. I don’t think I could be prouder.

Let’s get this party started right:
The Phillie Phanatic, Dorothy Krysiuk… Mascot Monday has hit a new zenith. (Or, if you prefer, nadir, but come on — this is awesome.) It’s good to be back.

On Wednesday, there was a special “Mascot Wednesday.” I didn’t find out until too late, but I did get these clips of an abridged Mascot Wednesday this morning on the weekly highlight package.
Perhaps you didn’t think Good Day Philadelphia had a highlight reel at the end of ever week. You were foolish.

The orange jumpsuits are a promo for Prison Break. The Wildcat is a promo for, obviously, the Villanova basketball team. The Rita’s Water Ice mascots are giving out free water ice today since it’s the first day of spring. The best Mascot Monday ever? Maybe.

As usual, the Good Day Philadelphia anchors dance with a giant mascot, as they do every Monday. This time, though, a pair of interns joins in the fun, which means, well, they have the greatest internship in history.

This will have to tide you over until Mascot Monday:
I’m pretty sure the entire show is going to be nothing but dancing really soon.

Indeed! Last week we all saw the Good Day Philadelphia crew dancing with the mascot of the University of Delaware. It seemed to be pretty popular. (One of you even emailed me that he’d be watching today’s edition of Good Day in order to see the dancing.)
And, today, the Good Day team danced with Griffy the Griffon, the mascot of the Church Farm School in Exton, Pa. And there are new graphics, a strobe effect and discussion about the rising popularity of “Mascot Monday.” Without further ado:
Anytime I’m down, I just need to watch videos like this. They make me realize how good it is to be alive. It’s like Video Wellbutrin!

Yes, we have video capability now. More on this later. For now, enjoy yesterday’s edition of Good Day Philadelphia’s Mascot Monday, which closed the show yesterday:
Editor’s Note: For those of you that asked, they just dance with mascots. I think it started with some penguin mascots promoting the movie Madagascar, but I’m not sure.

I got more e-mails and comments yesterday about the screenshots from Good Day Philadelphia than about anything else I’ve written about since I started this thing. And I think it deserves some explanation.
Some of you were surprised after seeing a dancing steak, muffler and bunny, but to me it was nothing new. They’ve been dancing with mascots — “Mascot Monday,” they call it — for at least a few weeks on the show now. Maybe it’s because I deal with the dregs of the Internet (and, therefore, society) every day, but I never really thought much of it. “Dancing with mascots? Brilliant,” I say.
Yesterday’s mascots were from (I think) CareerBuilder.com, apparently because you could get a job as a bunny, a steak or a muffler by using that website. (The hosts thought the muffler looked more like a flask.)
Anyway, if you want more dancing mascot goodness, I can only assume they’re going to keep doing it. And now that I realize it’s so popular, of course I’m going to report on it each and every week. If I remember.
