Phillies-Mets Play At Noon For Some Reason

The Phillies may have lost to “Dancin’” Jose Reyes and the Mets last night, but they can still take the series with a win today at Shea Stadium. The game begins at 12:10, so the place will be empty since all the fans are still hung over from last night.

I’m going to try to liveblog it assuming nothing blows up tech-wise. After the jump.

Spend An Afternoon With The Phillies

061808jenkins.jpg

Summer is but a few days away, and the Phillies are three games up in the division. While the naysayers say the bullpen can’t possibly remain healthy the entire season — and they are no doubt right — we can hope the Phillies can stay on their healthy kick and continue to lead the division the entire summer.

The Phillies play the Red Sox this afternoon at 1 in the rubber match of the three-game series. The Sox shut out the Phillies, 3-0, last night and the Celtics won the NBA title. Ugh.

Kyle Kendrick goes for the Phillies today against Justin Masterson, 3-1 with a 2.90 ERA. Right, of course this guy has a sub-3.00 ERA: He plays for Boston. Greg Dobbs is in the lineup for the Phils. I’ll liveblog the Fightins after the jump once it gets started.

Road To 10,000 Losses: Phillies Liveblog

phillies-10klosses.gif

Road to 10,000 Losses is a countdown to the Phillies’ 10,000th loss, coming sometime later this year. With a 5-4 loss to the Nationals yesterday, the Phillies stand at 9965 losses, only 35 away from 10,000. The Phils are playing the Washington Nationals in an afternoon game, and so it’s time for a short liveblog. I’ll try to do this for games when I can this year, since if I’m watching anyway, I might as well write about it.

1:08 - The Phillies score one in the first, but had Shane Victorino on third with one out and he didn’t score.

1:31 - Aaron Rowand, who’s playing so well we better trade him before he starts screwing up, hits a homer to make it 2-0 Phillies. It’s time for the contest to guess how the Phillies will blow this one. I’m thinking the Phils hit into two triple plays.

Liveblog: Opening Day (Braves 5, Phillies 3, F)

I figured since I headed home to watch the Philies today — one of the advantages of being able to work from home — I’d liveblog it in a shameless attempt to act like I’m working and maybe increase the number of pageviews. Huzzah!

I’ll try to keep the comments short, as it’s baseball and, really, what the hell am I going to write about? It’s baseball!

1:00 - New announcer Gary Matthews looks terrified as they show the broadcast booth. Sarge also sounds like he’s about 75.

1:06 - Brett Myers will start today for the Phillies; he’s opposed by John Smoltz for the Atlanta Braves.

1:09 - And Brett Myers begins with a strikeout on a really nice splitter. 162-0, baby!
