Local actual celebrity and movie director M. Night Shyamalan was spotted voting out on the Main Line.
KYW 1060’s Mark Abrams reports:
Filmmaker M. Knight Shyamalan was at the polling place at the Gladwyn fire company in Lower Merion township to cast his vote: “I had a tough time deciding. I did. You know, I hung out with them, I’ve listened to them and it was a tough one. It’s great; we had some amazing choices this year”
No he didn’t offer who got his vote, Clinton or Obama. But in this case, there’s an “Unbreakable” bond between voter and candidate.
Okay, I’m making the “Signs” for a foul call here. You don’t need a “Sixth Sense” to know that’s even worse than any joke I’d make. Actually, I would guess Shyamalan would be a Hillary Clinton fan, since he probably read her book, It Takes A “Village.” That joke was almost as bad as that awful movie “Lady in the Water.”

The pixelated logo at right can only mean one thing: The Philadelphia Tribune is launching an e-dition of the newspaper!
Yes, KYW 1060 reports the nation’s oldest black newspaper (neat!) and lover of press parking now has an e-dition, which is a Flash applet that loads images of the newspaper as it looks in print. (It doesn’t mean they’re just finally putting the newspaper online, since they already have a website.) But, look, with this new edition you can read stories online:
The Philadelphia Tribune publisher Robert Bogle calls it a good opportunity - an
E-Edition or electronic edition of the nation’s oldest and the region’s largest African American newspaper: “If you see an article or story that you like, you can click it and it will be magnified for you. The same for an advertiser, this definitely has a significant benefit for our advertisers.”
Oh my God, soon they’re going to tell me I’ll be able to update a website using a simple form I can access from my browser and it will go up right on the front page in reverse chronological order!

Hey, it’s National Pie Day! While the pie-eating celebratory day may still not be recognized by Arizona or whatever, it is apparently celebrated here. Of course, it’s only really supported by KYW 1060 reporter John McDevitt, who went out and asked clueless Philadelphians about the day:
Wednesday, January 23rd, is National Pie Day! But not very many people knew about it — not even Alvin Bieler of Bieler’s Bakery at the Reading Terminal Market. He’s been serving up pies for nearly 23 years but admits he was caught completely off guard: “I didn’t know it was Pie Day.” [...]
I told shoppers at the market about the National Pie Council suggestion of giving pies to people who don’t expect it — what the organization was calling “random acts of pieness.”

I wake up to KYW 1060 almost every day. Here’s what I learned waking up today:
- There’s some new Inquirer job section this weekend. (This was an ad.) And part of the ad says the section is “unlike the other guys.” Is there a Brand X job section I don’t know about?
- There’s a big slowdown on the Blue Route because somebody bent a Villanova University sign.
Well, at least nobody will get into accidents while reading the job section in the car, since that exciting bent sign will keep things under 30 mph.

I try to avoid linking to Channel 6’s website, because they have this annoying dude in a white shirt and glasses who pops up and tells you to buy a Toyota. I’ve been blocking these ads for forever, but when browsing on a different computer earlier this morning, I ended up realizing that KYW 1060’s website does it too!
And look who the pitchman — for some product I was able to forget the name of, thankfully — is: A.J. Feeley, ex-boyfriend of Heather Mitts and superstar backup Eagles quarterback. Unfortunately, I was not able to forget the 50-60 interceptions he threw this year in just two games, managing to throw the ball to the other team when driving for the game-winning touchdown in back-to-back games.
Anyway, with Feeley up on the website hawking something, it is only a matter of time before the ghosts of backup quarterbacks past begin popping up all over. Look for Jim McMahon to be pitching Delilah’s on this blog any day now.

KYW 1060:
A SEPTA bus was traveling south on 26th Street near Aspen Monday night around 9 o’clock when its driver heard a sound and felt a piece of glass hitting him. He stopped the bus and noticed that the driver’s side window was broken.
Police say the driver suffered only a small scratch and did not require medical treatment. The driver told investigators he saw four teens approximately 13 to 16 years of age running north on 26th Street. Detectives say it appears they threw an object, possibly a stone at the bus while it was in motion.
6 ABC:
Philadelphia police are on the lookout for the group of teens that hurled rocks at a SEPTA bush and hurt the driver.
The rocks shattered the bus windshield, injuring the driver.
It happened at 26th and Aspen in Philadelphia’s Fairmount section around 9 o’clock.
NBC 10:
A SEPTA bus came under fire in the Fairmount section of the city Monday night. Several bullets or BBs were fired at a bus at 26th and Aspen streets, police said.
The bus driver was hit by flying glass after windows were shattered by the shots. He was not badly hurt.
All together now: One of these things is not like the other…
