Happy Injury Anniversary, Zombie Barbaro!

Tomorrow is the Preakness Stakes, the race where last year Barbaro “tragically” broke his leg and lost the race. Then, later, he died, and the Preakness renamed a horse race after him.

When talking with the Inquirer’s Mike Jensen, it appears horse co-owner Gretchen Jackson is just as confused by the Barbaro people as we all are.

During Barbaro’s eight-month stay at New Bolton, Gretchen Jackson said, she worried about turning him into America’s Pet.

“I had trouble when he was touching noses with the cow or playing with the cat,” Gretchen Jackson said. “I just wanted him to have the stature of a Kentucky Derby winner. We didn’t have him as a pet. A lot of people saw him as a pet. He was much more than a pet.”

Oh, come on! Just say it! Just say those people who worship Barbaro creep you out, Gretchen! Go! Please! Alright, alright.
