Phillies Update

Hey, the second-place Fightins are only a game behind the Marlins; after losing two straight, Charlie Manuel has demoted Shane Victorino to the bench and installed Jayson Werth as the permanent center fielder.

Eh, it’ll do. Victorino gives you some speed off the bench, but, well, it’s not like the outfield is all that much better, especially with Geoff Jenkins in right. Not that hitting is really the problem this season, as usual…

More On Jayson Werth’s Mom

The guys at Baseball Tonight also noticed Jayson Werth’s hot mom — and unlike the Phillies announcers, were unable to avoid commenting on her attractiveness.

Jayson Werth’s Hot Mom

The Internet is abuzz over the attractiveness of Jayson Werth’s mom, who cheered on her son yesterday (along with, for some reason, Digger Phelps) during the Phillies’ game in Milwaukee. (The screencap doesn’t really do her justice; she’s no TV news anchor, but she’s definitely a nice-looking woman.)

Werth’s mom is Kim Schoenfield Werth; she’s a former track star (11 flat in the 100 yard dash in high school!) and therefore naturally still looks pretty good at 50-plus. And, so, yes, Jayson Werth’s family is full of good-looking athletes, probably all destined for millions of dollars playing sports.

Phillies Crash To Victory

During today’s 5-2 win over the Mets, Jimmy Rollins injured his ankle diving back into second base.

That injury wasn’t all that funny, so after the jump, please enjoy a clip of Shane Victorino making a nice catch in center field and then getting pummeled by Jayson Werth after he makes the catch. And he holds on!
