‘Good Day’ Dancing Just Keeps On Going

Last week: The Phillie Phanatic. (Happy birthday, big buddy!) And today: The Robbins Diamonds guy.

This one actually includes some actual, uh, pretty good dancing. The Robbins guy can really shake his money maker, and Jen Fred busts a movie today as well. Even the security director seems more into it today.

Also, this sketch (skit? news segment? hard-hitting investigative report?) seems to keep getting longer and longer. Pretty soon it’s going to take up about a full hour. I don’t think I could be prouder.

‘Good Day’ Finally Lands The Biggest Mascot Of Them All

Let’s get this party started right:

The Phillie Phanatic, Dorothy Krysiuk… Mascot Monday has hit a new zenith. (Or, if you prefer, nadir, but come on — this is awesome.) It’s good to be back.

Dance, Mascots, Dance!

What would a Monday be without a good old fashioned Mascot Monday:

And, really, is there a better capper to your day than this?

Abridged Mascot Dancing

On Wednesday, there was a special “Mascot Wednesday.” I didn’t find out until too late, but I did get these clips of an abridged Mascot Wednesday this morning on the weekly highlight package.

Perhaps you didn’t think Good Day Philadelphia had a highlight reel at the end of ever week. You were foolish.

Breaking: Will Sheridan’s Father Proud

When someone’s interviewed on the news, there’s usually smaller text below the person’s name identifying him or her. For example, if George W. Bush is speaking, below his name it could say “President.” Usually they’re actually needed, and they’ll say “Neighbor” or “Witness” or “President, Local 401″ or something like that.

Other times, they’re not quite sure what to put:

It’s good to know that Will Sheridan’s father is proud of him. I wasn’t sure about it.

Bonus fun fact I learned from Good Day this morning: Did you know that Sheridan wears the number 50 because his parents are both in law enforcement? How awesome is that?

Dual dance-off on ‘Good Day’

The orange jumpsuits are a promo for Prison Break. The Wildcat is a promo for, obviously, the Villanova basketball team. The Rita’s Water Ice mascots are giving out free water ice today since it’s the first day of spring. The best Mascot Monday ever? Maybe.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

May the luck of the Irish be with you this and every day of the year. And, no, they didn’t dance with this guy — we’re not that lucky.

Good Day: Dancing with a doggy!

As usual, the Good Day Philadelphia anchors dance with a giant mascot, as they do every Monday. This time, though, a pair of interns joins in the fun, which means, well, they have the greatest internship in history.

Dancing with the stars

This will have to tide you over until Mascot Monday:

I’m pretty sure the entire show is going to be nothing but dancing really soon.

It’s a polyp party on ‘Good Day’

Anytime somebody bashes Philly, I am just going to show them the following video. It really doesn’t get any better than this: On Good Day Philadelphia, Jennaphr Frederick dances with the director of security and a pre-cancerous colon polyp known as Polypman. (March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.) The guy in the polyp suit is a med student who needs extra money. Oh, and they’re dancing to Sasha Baron Cohen’s cover of “I Like To Move It” from the Madagascar soundtrack. And the director of security, Harry, is doing the ‘Raj’ From What’s Happening.

A bit of backtracking: I am not positive, but I believe the first time they did this was when guys in penguins suits came on to celebrate the DVD release of Madagascar. And since then they’ve danced with a steak, a muffler that looked like a flask, a baby, the University of Delaware mascot and a griffin. It’s usually just Frederick dancing, but if we’re lucky, Kerri-Lee Halkett joins them, too.

There are so many questions: Who is their target audience? Do they really enjoy dancing? Do they get embarassed to do this? Whose idea was this in the first place? If you’re a mascot, how do you get on this show? Is there some sort of application process?

But this much is definitely known: This could not happen anywhere else. Even with all the silly things the anchors on, say, Today, do, it doesn’t hold a candle to this. Only in Philadelphia could anchors on a morning show dance like this and not be fired immediately. And for that I am grateful, because things like this are simply awesome.

That being said, it’s time to invoke the fair use laws and show the video:
