‘Bulletin’ Paragraph Of The Day

Shortly thereafter, I bought my first issue of Playboy. And things got interesting.

‘Bulletin’ Continues To Insist Iraq War Is Over

051007chocolatefund.jpg

Ahh, the Evening Bulletin. I have a feeling nobody will be able to top last week’s racist/anti-realtor column from The Bulletin, and I’m not even going to pretend this pro-Iraq War column from Douglas J. Allan tops it.

Most of the column is pretty typical stuff: Harry Reid is a traitor, the “MSM” is horrible, Democrats are going to cause World War III. Nothing that would change any minds of anyone, but is that really the point of a newspaper column, especially one from the Bulletin?

But this is my favorite part:

Our country’s leaders were the architects of one of the greatest - and shortest - major military victories in history. … If you read Soldier of Fortune, or Oliver North’s columns, or go to any military oriented site, or talk to several soldiers, instead of “the BBC reporting from Toronto,” or Katie Couric, military expert, you will learn that we are winning overwhelmingly. Our troops are killing 20 terrorists for every one of our own, and are ready to stay - and adapt - until the insurgency is no more.

Ahh, yes, the ol’ 20 terrorist-to-1 soldier ratio. Our citizens will accept 20:1, but if it drops down to 19:1, oh oh, we’ll be out of Iraq before you can spell “Mesopotamia”!

‘Bulletin’ Hates Blacks, Quakers, Realtors

In case you haven’t been paying attention — and, really, I hope you haven’t — about 15 Catholics in the city are in an uproar over the Tony Auth cartoon at right. The ‘toon ran as a commentary on the Supreme Court’s upholding of the partial-birth abortion ban.

Apparently, this cartoon is very offensive, because it says the five Catholic judges on the bench rule based on their Catholic morals. I thought this is what pro-life Catholics wanted judges to do, but apparently they don’t. Apparently Catholics are happier that the judges voted to uphold sound constitutional law than to uphold anti-abortion beliefs. Who knew?

Leading the charge against the Inquirer and its infidel cartoon is none other than The Evening Bulletin, which has run approximately 48 articles and letters about it in the past weeks. But none really did its job better than today’s column by James G. Wiles, which not only takes on Auth’s cartoon but black people, Quakers and liberals as well!

This one deserves — nay, implores — a full mocking. Join me after the jump.

The Duke Boys Aren’t Innocent After All

042707duke.png

Gregory Sullivan is, apparently, a lawyer in Bucks County. He’s also an occasional columnist for The Evening Bulletin. And he wrote this paragraph in yesterday’s paper with 100 percent seriousness in a column about how college is bullshit or something.

The Duke University case is viewed, correctly, as a thwarted railroading of the students by an unscrupulous prosecutor. The students are understandably relieved to be cleared of the false charges. They are seen as victims in this matter, which is what they are. But the legal vindication of the students is one thing. Duke should now throw them out of the university for hiring a stripper.

Recent Incidents Mean It’s Time To Rethink College [The Evening Bulletin]

Downright Dangerous To Public Sanity

It’s been a little bit since I’ve checked in with Chris Freind, America’s Best Columnistâ„¢, and see what earth-shattering commentary he’s been writing about in “Freindly Fire.” His column title is based on his name, if you didn’t know.

As you may remember, last time we all saw America’s Best Columnist, he was sending out a press release about how he had exposed the hypocrisy of people attacking Don Imus. He also promised an “explosive challenge” to Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Bruce Gordon.

Well, well, well! How did the challenge go? I’ll take a look at that and a few other recent bits by America’s Best Columnist after the jump.

Bulletin: Liberals To Blame For Mass Murder

042507mike.jpg

The man at right is one Michael P. Tremoglie. He’s a columnist for the Bulletin, which can only mean one thing: He’s a conservative. But not only is he a conservative, he’s also apparently a liberal hater, which can only explain this recent column blaming liberalism for the Virginia Tech shootings.

He actually begins the column by saying it’s wrong for people to exploit this tragedy for personal gain, but rationalizes it by saying that people are attacking his precious guns or whatever and so he must stop them before it’s too late.

The first evidence that liberal ideas either contributed to, or were the cause, of the VA Tech tragedy is that of the very words of the murderer, Cho Seung-Hui. A videotape and some writings he made before, and during the killing spree, which he sent to NBC, revealed his motivation. Among his reasons were his resentment of “rich kids,” and their “Mercedes,” their “golden necklaces,” their “trust funds,” their “debaucheries” and their “hedonistic” lifestyle.

This hatred of the “rich” is right out of the leftist and liberal Democratic Party philosophy of class warfare. It is they who are always demonizing the wealthy - claiming they want to starve the poor, or send the poor to war for oil so they can profit from it.

Geeze! I didn’t know Cho was attending fundraisers for Jim Webb and that’s why he went insane and killed 32 people! (Sorry that joke wasn’t better, but his argument makes absolutely no fucking sense and so it’s actually pretty hard to mock it.)

America’s Best Columnist Strikes Again

041607friendlyfire.jpg

A press release came over the transom Friday afternoon from Bulletin columnist Chris Freind.

You might remember Freind from his column about what a great columnist he is last month. You might also be asking: Why did you get a press release from a columnist for a local paper? (Well, technically, a few people sent it to me, but still.)

Why, sort of the same idea as with Freind’s column: He’s the only American columnist who isn’t a spineless wimp or permanently attached to either George Bush’s or Barack Obama’s jock.

From: Chris Freind

Subject: Philadelphia’s “Freindly Fire”takes aim at hypocrisy of Bruce Gordon, Sharpton and Jackson

Dear Editor:

I author a twice-weekly commentary column for the Philadelphia Bulletin, branded “Freindly Fire” (a play on my last name). My national reader response rate is extremely high because of my “take no prisoners” style and the fact that I tackle issues with rare candor and a unique critical eye.

Accordingly, attached please find my latest column, scheduled to appear in The Bulletin’s Weekend print and online editions. It chastises the outright racial hypocrisy of CBS Director (and former NAACP head) Bruce Gordon, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson, especially poignant given that all charges were dropped against the Duke University lacrosse players.

Please feel free to run the column or contact me for further comment or an interview. I am available around the clock.

I will also be issuing an explosive challenge to all three men early next week.

A headshot is available.

Best Regards,
Christopher W. Freind

Wow! I didn’t know of any other person who pointed out Al Shapton et al might not exactly be saints themselves!

This column must be a masterpiece. Let’s go check it out the first sentence on the Bulletin’s website!

America may well be closer to an all-out race war than it has been in 40 years.

Well, that’s it for me, folks. Full email — featuring a Chris Freind bio (!) — after the jump.

Herb Denenberg Gets A Zinger In

Denenberg

From today’s Q&A advice column from Herb Denenberg:

Question: Can you buy some sort of device to cover an unsightly pipe that sticks up in the middle of your lawn?

Answer: I would recommend a device called bushes or shrubs to plant around it and hide it.

Ed Kelley Turns To America’s Numismatic Threat

032607buchanan.jpg

Last week featured the debut of Ed Kelley, the Evening Bulletin columnist who really, really hates gays. Or, rather, he loves them, but he wants to call ‘em faggots and tell them they’re abnormal and destined to burn in hell. Or something like that.

Well, Kelley is back, baby! And this time he’s taking on an even greater threat to America than gays: Dollar coins.

Wait, wha? Yes, apparently after he and the Pope got together and refuted the experts by declaring homosexuality the same as pedophilia, Kelley decided to take on this new dollar coin. He says it’s costing we taxpayers lots and lots of money — just like the military’s gay ban is costing us lots and lots of soldiers — even though the program will make a ton of money due to seigniorage. (The 50 State Quarter program has made $4.6 billion, for reference.)

But that’s not all! No, there are bigger problems with the coin than just the loss of money.

Numismatists are even happier to learn that hundreds of thousands of faulty and now tradable dollar coins without the phrase “In God We Trust” on the edge have been put into circulation … by accident?

Were some mint employees fired as a result of this gigantic faux pas? They should have been, along with their boss - or was it a deliberate plan of action? Are we to believe that the faulty coins were not discovered early by mint employees? I can understand missing one of the six Lincoln 1909S vdb pennies (for Victor D. Brenner who designed the original Lincoln Cent), but not hundreds of thousands of dollar coins.

Yes! That’s what the mistake where coins were pressed without edge markings was! A secret plot to not strike the edges to show God just where we put our trust! Or, ah, not.
