Erin O’Hearn’s weekly “Right Now On The Net” feature has showcased Brad Maule’s work on Phillyskyline and, last night, it showcased… online dating! This whole segment is worth is just to see the awkward interaction between Jim Gardner and O’Hearn at the end.

Celebrity-Deprived Locals Flock To Nutter

See, See, I was right! Yesterday, Michael Nutter hosted at open house at City Hall and like 80 billion people showed up and the line stretched all around the street. It was like the Phillies were in the playoffs again. It was even 60 degrees outside. Only John Street got booed at the Phillies rally, while Nutter had people shaking his hands and whatnot.

The event was supposed to go until around 8:00 p.m., but Nutter stayed in line for two more hours (six in all) to accomodate all the number of people involved. (Thousands, actually.) And Erin O’Hearn — she’s good, this is the only reason I link Action News anymore due to the annoying talking guy — talked to some dude who waited for two hours with his 12-year-old daughter. Social services investigated after that, probably.

But, hey, he’s a master of PR and everybody likes him so far and now people are already cautioning us that he hasn’t done anything yet except that crime emergency thing and shake hands. But, for now, ah, hooray; without any celebrities or good sports teams, look what we Philadelphians are reduced to!

Alycia Lane Bikini Comments, Part 2

I’ve decided that for the rest of the week — and by “the week,” I mean today and tomorrow — I’m going to edit the words “Alycia Lane” in relation to seeing her in a bikini like I did yesterday.

Today’s winner is Erin O’Hearn, the 6 ABC reporter — who’s quite good, actually — and who is much like Alycia Lane in that she’s a woman and she works on a local TV station.

Yes, I realize I’m “encouraging” the Alycia Lane bikini comments by responding to them, but whatever, now that I’ve figured out how to do a reasonable approximation of scotch tape in Photoshop¹, it’s on. If you’re wondering why today’s change isn’t particularly funny, it’s because I’m just setting youse up for tomorrow. Duh. If you’re wondering why the woman in the photo I chose has big breasts, uh, I’m a guy.²

¹ Make a new layer, fill in a scotch-tape sized box with light gray (#cccccc if possible) and set opacity to about 50-60 percent.

² Only half true. It was also the first match on Google Image Search. Laziness trumps everything, really.

Congratulations are in order for one R. Bradley Maule, Phillyskyline.com proprietor and all-around good guy/G-Ho maven, for being mentioned on Action News last night. By Erin O’Hearn! (Cue the “Yowza!”) And this comes at a good time for him, since he’s having a chili cookoff tonight to try to find out who is the Pope of Chilitown. It’s at Tritone (1508 South) at 8 p.m.

Erin O’Hearn Look-A-Like-Watch Continues

Not content with his yesterday’s comparison of 6 ABC’s Erin O’Hearn to Lindsay Lohan, Dan Gross weighs in again today on the Action News reporter’s similarity to celebrities:

Comcast SportsNet’s Michael Barkann wrote in to say we were wrong yesterday in comparing 6ABC’s Erin O’Hearn to actress Linsday Lohan, saying that she looks much more like “Grey’s Anatomy” star Ellen Pompeo.

The “Daily News Live” host is correct. She does. And he’s got an eye for lookalikes. Barkann’s wife, Ellen, who works in sports publicity, looks like actress Jami Gertz.

I can’t wait until tomorrow, when Bill Vargus writes in to say that Ellen Barkann actually looks like Mary Stuart Masterson or something.

Breaking! Local Newscaster Kinda Looks Like Celebrity!

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner for the best gossip item ever in Philadelphia. It’s about a newscaster who kinda looks like Lindsay Lohan:

MAYBE IT’S the bright lights of Geno’s Steaks behind her but when we’ve seen Erin O’Hearn standing there reporting for 6ABC, we can’t help thinking she resembles Hollywood hellcat Lindsay Lohan.

O’Hearn started at Action News in January and formerly worked for MTV producing some of its “True Life” documentary shows. She was recently featured in FHM magazine’s online poll of sexiest newsladies as were CBS 3’s Alycia Lane and Fox 29’s Kerri-Lee Halkett.

And this is the lead item in Gross today. The fact that this could be the main item in a gossip column pretty much explains all you need to know about this city. I love this town.
