Dr. J: Sixers Owner?

Kudos to the Daily News‘ Phil Jasner today who breaks the story that Dr. J has put together a group that’s interested in buying the 76ers. (Okay, it’s written: “Erving, the legendary Doctor J.”)

I guess the question of “Who the hell would buy the 76ers?” has been answered. Who would buy the Sixers? Legendary ex-players!

There’s not much more than that to the story, but, c’mon, Julius Erving! As owner! Of the 76ers! This would be like Pat Croce times 10.

Could Doctor J be Sixers’ operator? [Daily News]

Maybe we can call him Dr. Gray

120805drj.jpg Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Dan Gross reports today in the Daily News that, during a special recapping The Real World: Austin Tuesday night on MTV, a female castmember recounted being hit on by “this old guy” while in Costa Rica. (Why The Real World: Austin was in Costa Rica, I won’t speculate.)

“This old guy” turned out to be none other than 76ers great Dr. J. The Doctor wasn’t shown on the episode, which featured footage that didn’t make the cut on regular episodes. The female castmembers rebuffed the advances of “this old guy” — to note, Dr. J is only 55 — and the male castmembers seemed surprised they didn’t welcome his advances. (I imagine the conversation would be something like, “You turned down a hall-of-famer?)

Still, though: The Real World: Austin? Couldn’t he have at least hit on castmembers from America’s Next Top Model? Sigh.
