Blogicized: One Of City’s Top Bars In The Northeast

Esquire hath declare it: The Grey Lodge (on the freakin’ Avenue!) and Southwark (of course) are our city’s finest watering holes. Fair enough. But no love for Tony’s? Come on, you got so close! [Blinq]

• Cole Hamels has distanced himself from other Phillies minor leaguers, not that it takes all that much to do so. We’ll remain “optimisted but guarded” on Hamels, but if Ryan Madson has another bad start, call him up immediately! [Balls, Sticks & Stuff]

• Liz weighs in on David Blaine as well; she has similar feelings. Next up, Blaine’s going to spend the longest amount of time on the surface of the sun that anyone ever has! [The Trouble With Spikol]

Quickies: Some Love For David Blaine

• Now that everyone, anywhere, ever seems to hate David Blaine, I kind of feel bad for him. And as a fellow craver of publicity and someone who really, really wants to be accepted and loved, I hope he’s doing okay. And I was rooting for him to die. (Well, not really. But it seems like everyone was, though, even if it was in jest. I think this says something about our society and culture, but I can’t quite figure out what.) I mean, he got a lot of publicity, so his stunt “worked,” but he did fail. I’m kind of confused, though: He’s a magician, right? So can’t he fake the last few minutes of his stunt to “break” the record? I ‘unno. Oh, yeah, he’s out of the hospital. [AP]

• Your car is more likely to be stolen out west than anywhere on the east coast (including Philadelphia, of course). But, uh, I’d still lock up your Lexus if you park it on Walnut. [CNNMoney.com]

• A Bucks County man has pled guilty to throwing keg parties for teens — oh, and for fondling seven girls. Good guy, that Bucks County man. No, wait, the opposite. [Bucks County Courier Times]

• Because Edwin Lopez didn’t call his parole officer, officers went out looking for him. And they found him and 1,300 bags of heroin, he’s been arrested, blah blah blah. You know the drill: The smart criminals are the ones we never hear about. [Inky]
