As the totally awesome scandal of Pennsylvania’s own Bruce Barclay continues on, the local Cumberland County newspaper has attempted to explain to its readers how Barclay was able to hire so many prostitutes.

Things are apparently a little slow out there in Cow Valley, as they start from the very beginning.

An Internet escort service called “harrisburgfratboys.com” is said to have supplied prostitutes to former Cumberland County commissioner Bruce Barclay, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed with Magisterial District Judge Susan Day.

How does such a company, which clearly appears to break the law, exist?

Illegal activity in America! On the Internet? Why, I just don’t know how this could ever happen!

Also big news out there: “A woman resisted arrest so strenuously Wednesday that she unseated a toilet, according to Carlisle police.”

Let’s Play With Bruce Barclay!

Well, my favorite new county commissioner, Bruce Barclay of Cumberland County, has shut down his website — or at least banned me from it.

But let’s take a look back at his event on April 25, 2007. The commissioner held a $75-a-person fundraiser from 5:30 to 7:30 ($37.50 an hour) at The Arena at a place called The Coliseum Entertainment Megaplex. It’s unlikely this event was a sweaty Roman-style orgy, but that certainly sounds more fun than any true story, so let’s run with that.

While they’re sending reporters around to follow Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton as they criss-cross the state, let’s hope the media can spend some time to get to Pennsylvania’s Cumberland County. There’s a bit of a scandal here! Former County Commissioner Bruce Barclay has been accused of raping another man and cops say when they searched his house they found “100 to 500″ secretly videotaped sexual encounters between Barclay and other men, many of them male prostitutes.

And these guys were almost as expensive as Eliot Spitzer’s call girl!

The affidavit describes several such encounters with an Internet escort service known as “harrisburgfratboys.com.” Court documents indicate Barclay twice flew a 19-year-old man referred to as “W.M.” to his West Palm Beach home. During a trip last month, “W.M” told investigators that Barclay flew a male prostitute from Binghamton, N.Y., and paid that man $1,500.
