John: What kind of outrageous crime could I commit to get Booker off the front page?

John: Right now, the only thing I can come up with is “murder Chris Booker”
Dan: Well, a plane crash got on the front page yesterday, but that’s no fun.
Dan: Ooh, you could do an online survey of the top 10 something!
Dan: Even better, you could do a survey of the worst 10 American cities for [whatever] and put Philly #1!
John: Done and done.
Dan: Wait, murdering Chris Booker sounds much better. I didn’t mean to discourage you. Also, what’s Booker like? I only vaguely remember him from 120 Minutes. I’m pretty sure I should hate him, but I want to know why.

Radio Host Fired For First Time Ever

Chris Booker has been fired from his morning show drive-time job at Q102, the Inquirer reports in a rather huge headline on the front page of Philly.com currently. (The website also switched from a photo of Booker himself to one of him and girlfriend Alycia Lane. Good move!)

Q102 is apparently moving “to a show that’s more music-intensive.” Oh, and Diego Ramos will not be fired, though a bunch of other people have been axed as well. I can only imagine that Barsky will soon be the host of a new morning show somewhere.

Booker told Mike Klein he was surprised: “I’ve been fired before for low ratings, but never for being No. 1.” On a side note, I enjoy tremendously the poll question on the front page of Philly.com: “Speak out: Did the station act hastily?” Ooh, yes, they should have waited until a full investigation was done of his show. Due process!

CBS 3 Miffed Its Employees Still Remember Who Alycia Lane Is

Ha ha, apparently if your work fires your coworker you’re never allowed to see that person again. Or hang out with her boyfriend, at least. Yes, CBS 3 is upset some of its on-air talent went to Chris Booker’s birthday party.

Booker is, of course, the boyfriend of one Alycia Lane, who you can’t possibly have forgotten by now, but, hey, who knows?

Among staffers at the party were traffic anchor Bob Kelly, reporter Todd Quinones and meteorologist Doug Kammerer. We’re told that station management talked only with Kammerer, mostly for appearing in pictures on Q102’s website in which he was holding drinks. While several pictures of Kammerer remain on the site, at least one was removed this morning.

Gawd. How dare we live in a world where the public is allowed to know that Doug Kammerer drinks at an Atlantic City birthday party.

Oh, yeah, Lane is still suing the station, so that could have something to do with it.

It appears noted Philadelphia power couple BookerLane are back in Philly and are… well, they are like 17 year sold, since they’re hanging out in Manayunk. I’ll let a Philadelphia Will Do I-Reporter explain via text message:

• I’m at Grape Street Pub, No Code a Pearl Jam cover band is playing, and I’m standing in front of Chris Booker and Alycia Lane, and she hasn’t hit anyone, yet
• She drinks vodka cranberry or something equally girly
• O, they won’t stop making out, fuckers

Alycia Lane Is All Over, Everywhere

It’s really tough attempting to decide which of the Alycia Lane photos local news organizations are using is the greatest. Is it the 1990 high school photo? The photo the Daily News credits to some guy on Myspace? Or the one of her with Bon Jovi, which I believe was also hyped as an “exclusive” interview, even though that’s about as exclusive as me.

The main story is, of course, her attempt to call Gov. Rendell after being arrested. This, of course, makes absolutely little to no sense, but, hey, maybe Eddie has power over the NYPD, too. Or maybe he just drives so fast he could post bail for her quickly. (Jon Corzine would work, too.)

Rendell spokesman Chuck Ardo confirmed the call at a specific time of 5 p.m. yesterday with this excuse: She wanted the governor to “make sure he knew her side of the story because he is an opinion-maker and runs around in influential circles.” Alycia, come on! You know the person you really needed to call is me.

CBS 3’s holiday special, Celebrate the Season, will air tonight, although Lane will probably be cut from it. Lane’s people are denying the allegations and suddenly she’s starting to look way more sympathetic than Jocelyn Kirsch to a lot of people. An Imus-like comeback? Maybe, but at least Celebrate the Season will get a healthy ratings bump.

Q102 DJ Apparently A Desirable Position

Ex-MTV VJ and current Q102 morning show guy (and, from the looks of it, current boy band member) Chris Booker apparently has a new woman in his life: Alycia Lane!

Yes, the New York Post finally didn’t break some Alycia Lane news; last night Michael Klein reported the two were seen together at a Chris Rock show at the Borgata last weekend. Booker, who broke off an engagement in March, said, “We went to see a show. Whoop-dee-do.” Anyway, they were also supposedly chummy at WOGL’s 20th-anniversary party. Ooh, they’ve gone to all the big events!

Klein calls them “Philadelphia’s new power couple,” which means they’re replacing, uh, I dunno, Chase and Jen Utley? This is probably a good thing for all of us, though, since Chris Booker totally looks like a dude who’d take (and then release) bikini photos. Hell, maybe he’s ALB!
