Rendell, Bloomberg To Form Chosen Ticket?

With the Eagles out of the playoffs this year and his weekends free, Ed Rendell will appear this Saturday with Michael Bloomberg in California.

The Associated Press takes this opportunity to let us know this will spark rumors of an independent political ticket for president in 2008, as there is no way a Jewish former mayor of New York City and a Jewish former mayor of Philadelphia — the two most beloved cities in the country, I believe — could possibly lose the presidency. Will it play in Peoria? Where won’t it play in Peoria?

Rendell’s spokesman says the governor is not going to be running for vice president with Bloomberg and says he’s just going to chill with Gov. Terminator and Bloomberg to talk about infrastructure. But that’s much less fun. All hail Vice President Rendell!

New Jersey to be minus one Weedman soon

The saddest news of the day — nay, the month — is contained in a small brief on the inside pages of today’s Inquirer: NJ Weedman is moving to California.

The superhero to the potheads, whose legal name is Ed Forchion, has run for pretty much every offce in the state of New Jersey, actually taking fifth in the recent gubernatorial election. He’s tried to change his name to NJWeedman.com. And, naturally, he’s been arrested a few times due to his stance on the legalization of marijuana, as well as his love of smoking it out in the open.

According to the Inky, the usually unemployed trucker decided to hightail it out of town for several reasons: He recently caused $6,000 of damages to his truck after hitting a deer (and then his transmission went), and his ex-wife was able to successfully deny him the right to visit his daughter.

After all this turmoil, the Weedman is moving to southern California, where he’ll manage a cannibis club, delivering the oh-so-legal (well, kinda) reefer to the sick people who need it. No word if he’ll be changing the name of his official website, NJWeedman.com — which is excellent, by the way, complete with lots of different colors, typos, talk of revolution and odd rants about Howard Stern not listening to him — or his NJ Weedman Myspace profile.

But we’d like to pour out this bong water on the curb and wish NJ Weedman a fond farewell. May you never have to face Alberto Gonzalez.
