Correction to the Correction of the Week

011706dawson.jpg Yesterday I noted that, last Friday, the Daily News accidentally published a photo of a man who killed someone in self-defense in their photo montage of murder victims. Well, to be fair, I only noticed it after the DN ran a correction.

Yesterday (and Saturday, oddly), the paper ran this correction:

The Daily News on Friday ran a panel of pictures on Page 1 of homicide victims in the city in 2005. Inadvertently included was a picture of Richard Dawson, 21, who wasn’t a murder victim but who stabbed to death one of seven youths who attacked him on Oct. 29 near his East Mount Airy home. Police released Dawson after concluding he acted in self-defense after being attacked by a group of gay bashers.

Okay, not so huge of an error. I mean, okay, a pretty big effing error, but at least they corrected it. But then a commenter noticed something that I didn’t notice (and, to be fair, something I should have noticed):

Um, Richard Dawson was the guy on Hogan’s Heroes (and the Family Feud). The kid who got beat up and wound up killing his attacker is named LUCAS Dawson.

Now, maybe his name is R. Lucas Dawson (and he goes by Lucas), but something tells me the Daily News made another big mistake.

I mean, how could anyone confuse a gay man with Richard Dawson, the biggest lecher in the history of game show hosts. Well, until Bob Barker, at least.
