First Customer Next Season: Team’s Playoff Hopes

Jim Simmons was apparently a big Phillies fan.

Okay, well, Jim Simmons is apparently just a placeholder name for the first of what will eventually be a full line of urns for dedicated fans for all the major league clubs. (Starting next season, the first clubs will be the Tigers, Red Sox, Yankees, Dodgers, Cubs and Phillies.) Urns will be available opening day; caskets later in the year.

But it’s not just the Phillies. The National Funeral Directors association meeting is in Philadelphia this week and look what other caskets there are:

At this year’s convention, for instance, there was a Harley Davidson-themed casket and one featuring Betty Boop.

Betty Boop? Who the hell would be buried in that besides Betty herself? Then again, I guess you could ask a similar question about the Phillies casket.
