Latrice Bryant’s New Tactic Even More Annoying

Yes, as expected, the Fox 29 are racist story just won’t die. And, as also expected, Latrice Bryant has issued an apology for holding up signs that also said “Jeff Cole KKK.”

It’s okay, though: She didn’t apologize to Jeff Cole, just to Wilson Goode (her boss at her $90K-a-year job) and other members of City Council: “I sincerely apologize to you, to City Council President Anna Verna, to all other City Council members and staffers… and especially to all residents and taxpayers of Philadelphia.” Ooh, does that count as Jeff Cole?

Anyway, now she’s going to do what she should have done in the first place, says her lawyer in another letter:

“I agree that my client’s reaction was inappropriate. I explained to her that the appropriate response would have been to do exactly what she later did. And that was to contact an attorney who could determine whether or not Fox29’s relentless paparazzi-like conduct… was libelous and slanderous, thereby warranting the filing of a defamation lawsuit.”

Woo-hoo! Maybe she can file the lawsuit from prison, where she will soon be along with the rest of Philadelphia’s residents.

Guy You Don’t Know Apologizes

Hey, remember when Louis DeNaples said that he couldn’t recognize John Street because all black people look the same to him? No? Come on, he’s the casino guy who allegedly lied about his mob ties, and we want corporations to make a ton of money on gambling, not mobsters.

Well, anyway, he apologized.

I want to apologize for the insensitivity of this remark. It was wrong, I shouldn’t have said it, and I am very sorry that I did. It came during the course of an exhaustive day of testimony, and it occurred as I was being shown a number of black and white photographs and being asked whether I recognized any of the individuals in the photos.

When I answered, I was referring to my inability to distinguish the people in those photos, and I just didn’t do a very good job of making that point. My remark really was in reference to the difficulty I was having identifying anyone in the photos.

Dear Phillies: I Want You Back

Earlier this year — on April 10, when the Phillies were 1-6 — Daniel McQuade quizzo partner and friend Shannon McLaughlin broke up with the Phillies on this blog. Now that they’re in the playoffs for the first time in 14 years, she cracked and attempted to get them back after Sunday’s win. Her drunken email to the Phillies is below.

Hurricane Retreats From War On Christmas

The Hurricane That Stole Christmas

Allow me to update — late, sorry — the ongoing battle of Glenn “Hurricane” Schwartz against Christmas.

The Inquirer’s Michael Klein reported Tuesday that Schwartz refused to read a promo about Santa before his newscast because he’s Jewish. This pissed all the Christians off, with Santa, of course, being the chief honoree of Christmas.

But Tuesday night, Schwartz led off his weather forecasts at 6 and 11 p.m. by raising the white flag:

He labeled the report as “absolutely untrue” and “apologized” that “some of us were left with the impression” that he has anything against the holidays. He mentioned that Christmas symbols have been part of his reports and urged viewers to have a merry Christmas, a happy Hanukkah and a joyous Kwanzaa.

Hmm. He labeled the report absolutely untrue, yet he apologized! Looks like Schwartz has been defeated in the War on Christmas. Santa must be proud.
