Cataldi’s Predictions As Right As Ever

052208cataldi.jpg

Remember during football season, when Angelo Cataldi was all “A.J. Feeley is a better quarterback than Donovan McNabb” in his Metro column? It was so stupid I didn’t even blog about it. Well, it turns out Cataldi’s predictions aren’t just bunk for football.

From his Kerri-Lee TV American Idol blog, posted a few hours before last night’s show:

I really don’t need to see the final show to know who has won. How it came about during the intense last round of competition was fascinating, though. By all appearances, David Cook tanked the final night. He handed the title to David Archuleta[.]

As you may have heard somewhere possibly maybe, David Cook won American Idol in a rout.

‘Idol’ Odds From, Um, Andy Reid

Steve Odabashian, the Andy Reid impersonator I did the story on last year was on 610 WIP this morning talking about American Idol. Of course. The audio’s embedded after the jump; plus he’s going to piano duel with somebody who Angelo Cataldi likes.

Maybe it’ll be Barack Obama!

Philly Love #61: Nicole Tranquillo

022307tranquillo.jpg

Last night, Nicole Tranquillo — the UArts student on American Idolwas voted off. Now, I don’t really care a lick about Idol, but I do feel bad for the local girl, so I figured the least I could do was make this post about her.

It’s not really all bad, though: Since she’s been eliminated early, we (1) don’t have to hear about her anymore and (2) we won’t hear about her enough to grow sick of her and hate her! Really. Remember how much everyone was sick of Justin Guarini and Anthony Federov Fedorov by the time they were voted off? Exactly. Nicole, you’re probably upset about losing, but, really: You just dodged a bullet here.

Update, 3:37 p.m.: Jesus, people.

If you have any doubts to the awesomeness of the new Fox 5 o’clock news — and, really, fuck-me boots weren’t enough? — simply take a look at the reader mail segment:

The other option is to just conclude that even the email segment is still an ad for effing American Idol.
