Great Moments In Hand Slaps

While we needed the beauty of motion to capture Vince Fumo’s head-tilt in an ad for his now-defunct Senate campaign, the best moment of the John Dougherty campaign so far is the awkward high-five with a schoolchild captured above. “Awwright! You just aced that history test. High-five!”

The Fumo Fallout

FUMO

Professional funnyman and state senator Vince Fumo dropped out of the race for state senate. See, this is how you do it: You talk a big game at first, you fight the charges hard, you say you’re going to run again, you run a few commercials, then you drop out. Nobody’s talking about you resigning at all!

So, yes, Fumo will play out the string of his term and keep attempting to get contributions to his defense fund, somewhat hilariously called the “Phoenix Trust.” Oh, and it’s illegal or something: “Moreover, the Phoenix Trust has not registered as a Pennsylvania charity. Under state law, trusts that raise at least $25,000 in a year must register, and identify trustees and fund-raisers, officials said.”

Larry Farnese is the candidate Fumo’s supporters are flocking to, leaving Anne Dicker and John Dougherty to pick up the rest. I assume there will be a ton of people who go from supporting Fumo to supporting Dicker.

Vince Fumo To Face Primary Challenge

The world’s greatest alpaca farmer/legislator will have a challenge next year: Noted bisexual hottie Anne Dicker recently announced she will run against Vince Fumo for state senate next year.

Dicker, you may know, nearly won a state house seat by running on an anti-casino platform, while Fumo invented the entire concept of gambling and brought casinos to Philadelphia. Fumo was also indicted on 139 counts of corruption earlier this year and has been known to wear a funny hat.

Dicker has a strong anti-funny hat policy, and told the Daily News this: “It’s absolutely ridiculous Vince Fumo is still in office - he should resign. I’ll let a jury decide his guilt or innocence, but his actions have brought a great deal of shame on this city.” Yes! I am certainly shamed by Vince Fumo using state money to install hardwood floors for Frank DiCicco or whatever.

Anne Dicker is expected to lose to Vince Fumo even if Fumo is convicted of murdering a hobo for sport, because that’s how politics work.
