Exhale: Westbrook ‘Day To Day’

Yes, it’s true, Eagles fans. The man who could probably be elected mayor is listed as day-to-day. That means his ankle isn’t fractured (which we already knew) and the MRI apparently didn’t show anything all that serious.

Everyone’s already thinking the same thing right here: He doesn’t need to play Sunday for the Eagles to beat the Bears. Give him Sunday off and the Eagles will still be 3-1 heading into a game against Washington. Then again, if we remember last season’s game against the Bears…

This is excellent news, especially since — as we all know — the Eagles would never, ever lie about the severity of an injury to a key player.

My dad covered the Eagles back in the 70s and 80s, and he said a reporter (not sure if it was him, or somebody else) noticed a recently-cut punter sitting in the hotel lobby eating steak. Sure enough, the Eagles had some sort of deal with him that he’d be re-signed/still get paid. They ended up getting fined for it.

Anyway, I guess what we can all take out of this lesson is: Football coaches never lie. Or that Westbrook is a big enough part of the offense that I’m willing to believe that for at least a week.
