New Phillies Fan Club: Kendrick’s Hendrix
A brief non-researched history of Phillies fan clubs: The first big fan club was the Wolf Pack, in support of rookie pitcher Randy Wolf, in 1999. He began his career 5-0 and the Wolf Pack was at literally every game and so they got some attention. They also had dances and rules and, of course, wolf masks. The Phillies were almost always out of the race by June. Fans needed something to do to make the losses more entertaining. The Vet was always nearly empty in the outfield upper deck; there was plenty of room for banners. Sal’s Pals is a CBP equivalent. The Wolf Pack begat (in no particular order) the Padilla Flotilla, Myers’ Squires, J-Roll’s Bakery, Person’s People, The Adams Family, Giambi’s Zombies, Abreu’s Amigos. (More here.) One of my favorites was the Pratt Pack, for catcher Todd Pratt. When Brandon Duckworth debuted, there were tons of fan clubs at the Vet: Duck Pond, Quack Pack, etc. Last night the TV showed the (possibly) new fan club Kendrick’s Hendrix. Give ‘em points for trying. It is clear, though, they have no actual clue who Jimi Hendrix is. Observe:

Actually, that looks like the graphic from Wawa’s recent Hoagiefest promotion (which just ended 8/3,) which in turn was a ripoff of the John Lennon character design in Yellow Submarine.

Hey listen guys and gals. I am part of kendrick’s hendrix and we were the greatest fan group in all the land. We were established last season but had no publicity. Hendrix had and afro, and we played right handed because kyle is a righty. According to Tom McCarthy and Chris Wheeler our group was clever and i happened to be at the game the next day and heard people speaking good things about the group. So stop pooping and our parade and support us. In fact, put a fro on and come rock on with us!
Kendricks Hendrix is the new up and comming fan club. screw all the other fan clubs there long gone. kendrick is going to be on the phillies for a long time. all the other ones re gone, i believe that these guys will be up for years to come.

2. It is just a fan group! Do something useful with your lives; stop wasting time blogging on pointless topics.

5. To clarify matters with the Hoagie Fest/Mr. Kotter character: The sign was only temporary, no need to be debating about it. We appeared on TV last season with our regular Kendrick’s Hendrix banner. However, I had it at my house and was on vacation during the August 6th game.
6. Spend less time belittling us and come up with your own fan group! It’s easy to pick apart people, back up your word and come up with a creative group.

As for Ian, if Ian were 33, I would assume he has somewhat of a higher education, perhaps a Bachelor’s, Associate’s, Master’s, etc. and would therefore know how to spell “tough”. Seeing how at shortly after midnight on August 13, that there are several posts, all within a few minutes of each other, I find it hard to believe there are several people supporting this group when it appears there is one, Kevin Walsh, attempting to impersonate “Ian Lookenburg”. Also, the lack of knowledge in basic elementary school grammar from several posters, such as “K. O’Connor” is deemed hilarious by all those who understand basic English.
