City Hall Is A Paris Cafe
Transformers 2 has been shooting in town recently, and currently City Hall has been transformed (ho!) into a Parisian cafe near the École Militaire stop on the Paris Metro. Why the Transformers go to Paris, I do not know. (For culture?) My favorite little bit of movie-filming-in-town gossip comes from my friend John on Twitter, who passed a box labeled “hero plates” sometime last week. |

City Hall, City Hall as Paris, Paris, The Transformers Get Cultured, Transformers, Transformers 2, WTF

“Hero” items are just screen-ready items, mostly for close-up work. When they’re setting up a shot, checking for the best camera angles, etc, or doing a far away shot, they can use foam items and such. So if a scene has a table full of plates that gets turned over, the real props don’t break while they’re practicing. Once they’re ready, they bring in the (more expensive) hero plates.
Apparently since I’ve been there, Parisian buildings have also been covered with boxy window AC units?
