Philadelphia Will Do

Philly Coalition Of Reason Billboard

No longer will we have to simply be terrorized on I-95 by multiple Christian billboards; now the atheists have their own billboard, too! It is not nearly as stupid as the one that says “Jesus hated going to church, too,” but it’s up there. Leave alone the weirdness of doing a billboard of, uhm, the sky: I thought the bonus about not being religious was not having to deal with getting together with a bunch of people you don’t really know or like to do chants and such.

I believe it’s time for us to pool our money and get a billboard urging people to worship Jupiter.

Don’t believe in God? You are not alone. [Phillyblog]

I don’t know about the sky bit either. Why not just put a picture of an old man with a long white beard in flowing robes and say “don’t believe in this dude?”

Seriously, the best background for a counter-God billboard has to be shots of hookers or the Kansas City Royals or 10 year olds playing GTA4 or something.

I think the sky imagery is meant to suggest there’s no one living up there.

I’m actually kind of glad to see the atheists fight back via billboard. Every day I drive to work, I see that ugly-ass “Jesus Christ is the ONE TRUE GOD” sign above I-95, right before the Girard Avenue exit. And then there are those incoherent black and white Don’t Make Me Come Down There signs up and down the Northeast Extension.

    Expect the Jeez-o brigade to freak out in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…

I think I’m losing faith in the existence of photos of Alycia Lane in a bikini. I need to get some counseling.

I am not an athiest by any stretch - “vaguely religious” is the best description I’ve heard of my leanings - but if your God has to advertise on a billboard, your God sucks.

“Terrorized” by a message of hope? I don’t get it… I guess you athiest folks are more comforted by believing that there is nothing to look forward to beyond life in the flesh. To me, what’s terrorizing is you people telling children that they are related to monkeys and that when they die they’ll just be meat for the worms.

I’ve got nothing against religion or religious people, but if you think evolution is equivalent to literally being a monkey’s uncle, guess what? You’re a fucking retard.
