Even Kids Don’t Vote For Ron Paul
On this election day, it’s important to remember the candidates who have since passed us by and gotten us to this point. On the Democratic side, there’s a bunch of well-meaning goobers who couldn’t possibly raise as much money or get as many votes as either Obama or Clinton; on the Republican side, there’s a ton of idiots who couldn’t even beat John McCain. Remember when Fred Thompson from the television was going to be president? But a students at Robert K. Shafer Middle School in Bensalem were allowed to vote for some of those past candidates in a mock election; naturally, Obama won and Clinton took second. But let’s see how the also-rans did!
Have we extinguished the Ron Paul menace? Is the income tax just not an issue for seventh and eighth graders? All I know is there are some pretty smart seventh- and eighth-graders in Bensalem. No doubt they will soon all be harassed at their homes and places of business by angry Ron Paul fans wondering why they didn’t vote for him. Kids that young don’t even know who’s running most of the time because their too young to vote, so why should they care? I know I was like that until I got into high school. So its natural they go along with the hip cult following of Obama

Kids are merely a reflection of the information they are exposed to. They very rarely seek out information on their own, and they certainly do not have a firm understanding of complex issues. The basis of their vote is on who is given the most TV time, and who speaks more eloquently.
It should be no surprise, given the unbalanced attention that your ilk provided throughout the election, that Ron Paul would not reach many of these kids. Nevertheless, the underage polling has little to do with the fact that much of what Ron Paul says is dead on the money.
More yellow journalism…yawn. The problem is that our elections have become popularity contests. The popularity contest is waged on the little boxes in our living room. Kinda funny that they call it a TV program…or programming. It is exactly that…programming.
If we as a people actually studied the issues and looked for substance…we would not be in the mess today. However, we don’t read as much as we should and definitely do not study. We just sit around eating cheesy poofs, watch the little black box(tv) and consider ourselves informed and knowledgeable.
This whole election and the others before it for many years are all very sad. It has been said that we get the government we deserve. We say we want liberty and freedom, but so many Americans don’t want to take the responsibility that is required. So we instead choose Big Government to act as our pseudo mommy and daddy who will take care of us.
It is my opinion that Ron Paul is a breath of fresh air. Alas though, we as a people(majority) are still fine with Big mommy and daddy. The small percentage of Americans that want to act as grown-ups is growing though. Ron Paul has hit a chord and I believe this trend will grow in the future.
Sad to see that the Republican party is for the most part set on choosing a liberal like McCain as their standard bearer. A lot of Republicans are unhappy with McCain.
Lastly, this article shows the power of the television. It is a very good sign that advertisers on TV to children will get a good response to their ‘programming’.
What is the point of this story? Most adults can’t even tell you why they would vote for a particular candidate.
These kids more than likely care about American Idol, Playstation 4 and Junk food more than they care about elections or the financial crisis facing our nation. Put the facts in terms that are relevant to them and see how they vote.
Ron Paul means your Mom and Dad keep more of their paycheck, which means more video games, cable channels and microwave meals they can buy for you.
Asking kids to vote in mock elections trivializes the importance behind voting, making it instead, a ‘cult of personality.’ It is treated more like American Idol than anything.

And then when you want to go to college, Ron Paul means that you are on your freaking own because the government shouldn’t help anyone!
Maybe if Mommy and Daddy were responsible with their money and saved some for little Johnny to go to college, he wouldn’t need government handouts.
It’s no surprise these kids didn’t vote for Paul. They’re being taught in a public school. Who in the world teaches about personal responsibility and limited government there?
You will be where you should be, left with the responsibility of getting your own financing…or maybe a scholarship. It isn’t the governments job to finance college.
Why should the government pay for you to go to college. There are too many people there already that don’t take it seriously. It is a rite of passage not a place for higher learning. Moreover how is the government helping now? By subsidizing student loans so when a student graduates they are saddled with enormous debt and a liberal arts degree where there aren’t enough jobs?
I don’t understand what Ron Paul wants to do if elected. I can’t vote for somebody when I don’t even understand what he or she wants to do. He’ll have to do a better job of explaining that.
Perhaps the vote was conducted under the same rules as the Minnesota 5th Congressional District caucus: ie, the children were told that votes for Ron Paul would not be counted.
He wants to reduce government spending by eliminating entitlement programs and reduce our overseas obligations. Lowering spending will make it possible to eliminate income tax.

A telling statement of the article authors opinion. I have larger issues of informing real voters of current events and political choices. When the CHILDREN are of age I do hope they are informed voters unlike many Americans appear today.
That’s because their mom and dad are allowing them too watch too much t.v. They are falling into the same trap that the adults are.
They are letting the media decide who gets to be president instead of getting off their lazy asses and researching the issues.

However, I think it is also on you, if you are sincerely interested, to learn more about a candidate’s positions. The reason that I was attracted to Paul’s campaign was that he was the only candidate that addressed the underlying issues of inflation, regulations, and subsidies (Cure the illness rather than treat the symptoms).

Living within it means is easy if we stop policing the world and stop handing out money to foreign nations without Congressional approval.
Why are stereotyping rich people as selfish? Some of the wealthiest people in the country are the most philanthropic. Success does not equate with selfishness.
Everyone is selfish about something and that isn’t the problem, the issue is with what we put our effort to obtaining. We place value on material goods and not happiness. Everyone wants the same thing; happiness and to end suffering. This goes wrong when people think that money, cars, power etc. will make them happy.
When this mock election was held why didn’t the teachers explain to the children about each candidate and what they stand for on the issues. Probably because they didn’t know themselves. This just goes to show you that most people choose to remain uninformed and that is what the problem is today.
Well - it makes sense. People of this country do vote like a bunch of middle school kids…we don’t care about real issues. It’s a popularity contest…and, it’s no surprise that Dr. Paul is not so popular.
People with 8th grade educations don’t vote for Ron Paul. As a Ron Paul supporter, I already knew that.

Uninformed, brainwashed kids listening to their uninformed, brainwashed parents. Spend more time researching the “real” issues at hand, not the media-created “hot” issues of the day, and you’ll finally understand why the Ron Paul supporters are so passionate. It reminds me of “The Matrix”, people waking up all over the country and seeing things for what they really are.

Could you please show us in your infinite wisdom where it’s the governments job to make sure rich people are not selfish? I was just browsing through the Constitution, especially Article 1 Section 8, which defines the specific allowed powers of the Federal Government and could find no reference to this supposed power being given to government.
Of course we could amend the Constitution to give that power to the Federal Government legally by use of Article 5. Until we amend the Constitution to give Government that power it is NOT Constitutional and NOT a function of Government.
For those of you who do not want to look up Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution here you go:

I am not poor, but I am not rich either. Like millions of Americans I am middle class and getting robbed by the Government everyday either through unlawful taxation or inflation.
I take it you are not poor either, you are sitting somewhere using a computer with internet access. To me poor means you don’t have a roof over your head or don’t have food for that day. If you can’t afford that hoopty ride or you run out of mobile minutes each month, that is your fault.
As far as having cars and stuff, I have found that I am happiest with less material goods to worry about. Buying frivolous things doesn’t make anyone happy for long.
It isn’t the Governments job to distribute wealth. It is hard to get a bearing on what you actually propose as domestic policy but is sounds like Socialism.
Here is where the gap is bridged; individuals and private groups support the needy as they see fit via churches, family support, private donations, etc. How does the government taking 40% of your money and distributing it however they see fit comfortable to you?

If people vote for who they know, then of course the kids will vote for McCain as their parents and their teachers also brainwashed by the media. If they base it on who they heard on TV or radio then yes… they will vote for who they “think” is the right candidate.
Show me a kid that can recite all of the issues and what each candidate stands for, then have them show me where these views are legal in the Constitution. Heck, even show me a group of adults that can do this.

It’s totally obvious that the government needs to make sure people don’t grow up to be arrogant, selfish, rich pricks. Anyone who has half a brain and thinks about it for a bit should be able to see that clear as day. If we make laws to keep people from being arrogant and selfish, half of society’s problems will be solved.
All Ron Paul supporters want is gold. They want to get rich off of poor people who can’t defend themselves.
Most people who vote for Obama do it to make themselves feel good, in a way similar to charity because “Oh look at me, I can vote for a minority

A fine piece of journalism. The hits on Ron Paul were a bit underhanded though. Since the media doesn’t tell anyone about him, how are the kids supposed to know who he is? Let me explain the vampiric mentality and how the only candidate, Ron Paul, has been fighting them for years.
Ron Paul vs. The Vampires

Now many readers may immediately be wondering what the heck are you talking about? What does Ron Paul have to do with Vampires? Some of you might challenge the notion of Vampires. I’m here to tell you that Vampires are real. Yes, you read it first here…Vampires do exist and we are surrounded by them. So, just bear with me as I explain further.
Vampires have been written and talked about in length over the centuries. This writer will make the assumption that everyone knows something about the legendary man killers. However, I will still ask the question, what is a Vampire? Generally speaking a Vampire is a creature that derives its sustenance from others. Most often we associate Vampires as drinking the blood of their victims or literally sucking the life out of them.
Now that I’ve established what the commonly known Vampire of legends is, I will talk about real life Vampires. Quite literally anything that feeds or drains off of something else is vampiric. Generally, small vampiric effects are somewhat irrelevant and at worst a nuisance (darn mosquitoes). It is when this vampiric effect becomes larger that the real debilitating effects are felt.
Enter stage right…Taxes. Taxes are a definite vampiric act. They can be tolerated to a certain level, but after a certain point its debilitating effects are felt. When the typical tax payer spends one quarter to one third of their year working to pay taxes, you have a problem. The average citizen inherently knows that this is a drain and feels that it is a real problem, but never takes the next logical step. This next step is for citizens to ask themselves what money really is. Money is quite literally man/woman equivalent hours. You trade your limited life for an exchange medium that allows trading of peoples time/life. So money quite literally is supposed to represent a portion of ones limited time on this planet. Everything you see around you takes time to produce, from raw material production to a final product. Once you start to think of money as a representation of people’s lives things become even clearer.
When Ron Paul talks about letting people keep the fruits of their labor, he is saying let people keep as much of their lives as possible. The goal is to maximize liberty, freedom, and life. Ron Paul is literally challenging the Vampires in Washington and the multitudes of Vampires Washington feeds.
My fellow citizens, we are being preyed upon and having our very lives drained to feed others. I have no problem with charity as I am donating a portion of my life voluntarily. Even some taxes like a gas tax to maintain roads are understandable. Taxes like the gas tax charge people for use of the roads. Now for all of those SUV drivers…your heavier vehicles do wear on the road more, but you pay more in gax tax as well. Of course, how much more could be debated and I do not pretend to have the facts on that.
However, most people do have a problem when large portions of their lives are stolen, especially through the use of force (try not paying your income taxes and see what happens). Taxes have the same effect as prison because they deprive you of life and liberty. Prison deprives you of life and liberty and is our primary method of punishment for societal wrongs. Funny that taxes and prison seem related with the exception that the loss to life and liberty is greater in prison. Thank goodness that you only lose one third of a year as a ‘free’ citizen working to pay your tax burden (carry on…no sarcasm to be seen here). In the end, we should be trying to minimize taxes to only the things that are truly necessary. For every ‘need’ imprisons us more and deprives us and our fellow citizens of life and liberty.
There is an awakening happening. The Vampires have gotten too bold and are nearly killing their prey. They drain us of life through the income/labor tax, through the nefarious hidden life draining tax called inflation and a multitude of other taxes.
Ron Paul is a mere man (a decent one at that), but it is his message that is awakening the Sleeping Giant (the American electorate). The Sleeping Giant is awakening to find that the vampires have put him into a deep sleep and have been feeding off of him relentlessly. The question is…will the Sleeping Giant have enough strength to stand up and throw off these cruel beasts? This writer sure hopes so!
Ron Paul is the hammer that will drive the Liberty stake/message through the heart of the vampiric system. What he has lacked this last thirty years was a powerful enough force to drive that stake into an increasingly destructive system. We the Sleeping Giant are that force! This exponentially growing force has literally picked our hammer Ron Paul up. All we need to do is gather enough strength (enough of the electorate) to drive home the stake and free ourselves, and our country.
Fellow citizens…stand…stand…rise up and be free! Support the only man driving home the freedom message…Ron Paul!

So I’m with you about who the enemy is…I just do not believe government(which they completely control) taxation on the wealthy is the end all answer or that it will work. The elite will use their money/influence to create loopholes. The real answer is for us the people to get involved in politics starting at the local level and to support candidates that show they will not be bought by the powers that be. Here’s some truth: Most Americans have little more political awareness than those kids do.
If the author is trying to make a point with this article, it should be that the minimum voting age is a good thing.
Considering that the schools can’t even teach kids to read and write, and have them failing miserably at math across America, political ignorance is to be expected. If they can’t read and aren’t taught to think, they can’t exactly question the blather that is spouted on Fox News.
That is hardly vindication for the statists. It merely draws attention to how evil they are.
I note that the school’s poll only included select Republican nominees, not the spectrum, and only select Democratic nominees, not the spectrum. Perhaps the take-home lesson for the youngsters is that political bias will be found everywhere — especially at institutions of edjukashun.

The real vampires are the selfish rich people who are sucking the life out of the poor. The government needs to take the money they have stolen from the poor in order to teach them a lesson. The money one rich person makes in a year could build free housing that we could give all the homeless people in Philadelphia. The problem is that Philadelphia’s government cares about the selfish rich people more than it cares about the homeless. We need to get the homeless to vote in every election. Government is always good, as long as we elect Democrats. They are the only party that cares about the poor and will punish the rich elite for their selfishness and hatred toward the poor, minorities and homosexuals.

I even stuck a sign in front of our voting place as there wasn’t a RP sign there.
A fellow RP voter came out and said he made a mistake and didn’t see where to vote for RP and one of the people in the voting shouted to him, “You can’t vote for Ron Paul, only McCain!”

The Constitution is an old relic that’s no longer relevant today, just like the Bible. All humans are born with a certain level of common sense, and it should be obvious to anyone who hasn’t corrupted that common sense that the government should be protecting the poor from the rich who hate them.

I reluctantly voted for Paul today. Since I’m registered Republican, my choices were the warmongering McCain (who makes George W. Bush look like George McGovern), the theocratic Huckabee (who reminds me of Ayatollah Khomeini), or Ron Paul (who is the only candidate remaining who is pro-free market or anti-war, although he is a bit too extreme). I really wouldn’t expect Middle School students to vote for Ron Paul. They are too young to understand why to vote for him. However, I would suspect that if you polled High School students, Ron Paul would finish 2nd to Obama (though I think alot of the Obama supporters would choose Paul, not Clinton, as their 2nd choice). If Obama or Clinton fails to fix the economy and end the war (as well as stay out of Iran), I wouldn’t be surprised if Paul came back stronger in 4 years (as soon as former Republican Congressman Bob Barr wins the Libertarian nomination on Memorial Day weekend, McCain will have no chance of becoming president, so we’re going to have either 4 more years of Clinton or 4 years of Obama).

The author of this article should first learn about Dr. Paul. He has been extremely successful with zero mainstream media attention. He appeals to individuals who have read and re-read the Constitution and know the struggles of the founding fathers who created it. If children study the Constitution and are encouraged to ask questions and think for themselves, I believe your mock election that “allowed” the students to vote for even past candidates (of course, Ron Paul is a “current” candidate)- would have been quite different.
They might have chosen a person who upholds the Constitution, is a true patriot, believes in small government, individual freedom etc. etc.
Additionally, Ron Paul supporters aim to educate and bring the GOP to a higher level of integrity. This is a positive thing and should be encouraged.
