Walkoff Walk! Phillies Win!

How about that! The Phillies won their first game of the season on the most exciting of all baseball plays, the walkoff walk.

The real highlight of the final inning was (surprise!) not the walkoff walk, but Jimmy Rollins heads-up play after singling. On a Shane Victorino sacrifice bunt, Rollins went from first to third, realizing when he got to second he only needed to outrace a 500-pound shortstop to third in order to make it. While Rollins has been infuriatingly bad in the field so far this season, it’s plays like these that make everybody like him. Including me. Good one, Jimmy!

The boys at new-ish baseball blog coincidentally named Walkoff Walk have noted the first walkoff walk of the year. Whoomp, there it is. Video of Rollins and Werth after the jump.
