Ron Paul Has ‘Em Right Where He Wants
Although his website says there are now only two contenders left in the presidential race, it appears noted Internet meme Ron Paul is dropping out of the presidential race. Despite already saying he was dropping out of the race last month, In a message to his “supporters” last night Paul essentially conceded he wasn’t going to win the presidency in a YouTube video. Paul most likely decided to drop out not because John McCain has mathematically clinched the nomination, but because his supporters do not, in a sense, “exist.” If you’ve been following this blog for the past few months, you may have known I have been the subject of death threats, complaints to my bosses (asking me to be fired) and other forms of awesome Internet hatred. These all pretty much came from Ron Paul supporters. But after a spam attack took down the website, I posted a link to this Onion story about Paul. It got zero comments. One doesn’t need to be a gynecologist to realize the truth: The new spam filters are catching all the Ron Paul supporters (correctly) as bots designed to post spam. At this point, I’m kind of confused, wondering if Ron Paul himself actually exists. Anyway, even though he’s dropped out, he most certainly has a shot at winning the convention after his supporting cast of mind-controlling robots turn all the superdelegates into Ron Paul supporters. Don’t lie, he didn’t say he was dropping out of the race last month. It would even be a stretch to say he implied it, but DEFINITELY did NOT say he was dropping out. Where’s your integrity?
Also, he has said MANY TIMES that he will stay in the race until after the national convention, even though he admits there’s practically no chance of winning at this point. He’s just placing his focus toward things other than his presidential bid because there are other important things to deal with as well.

I’ve noticed that a lot of the times in blogs where there are a lot of posts from Ron Paul supporters, that the blogger kind of just takes the negative and runs with it.
In your case, yeah, it sucks that a few vigilantes harassed you at work, but what about the honest people who wanted to have a discussion with you - who wanted to understand why you did not agree with them? Isn’t that the entire purpose of having comments on blog entries… to talk about the issues presented?

I agree with Mike who asks “what is it about Ron Paul’s message of freedom that scares you so much?” I am even older than Mike (66 yrs of age) and was involved in Dr. Paul’s first campaign back in the 70’s. Barry Goldwater was my first vote for President. These are heroes of mine who understood what freedom means and how quickly we are losing it. How is it that in my lifetime the Constitution has become so hated or as GWB referred to it “just a god d.. piece of paper!” Doesn’t that frighten you? The “war of terror” is being used as an excuse to nullify all the laws guaranteeing our rights under the Constitution. It is close to being over, folks, and not a shot was fired!

It’s not just your freedoms that are at stake, it’s your life and the lives of all you care about. GWB and his cronies are gearing us up for war, depression, economic ruin, and our inevitable collapse as a nation of any standing whatsoever.
GWB wants war with Iran, Syria, and god knows how many other countries…how long before Russia and China decide to take direct military action? As powerful as the US military is, a broken economy CANNOT support a protracted war against two large, industrialized powers that DON’T have their forces spread all over the globe, and who actually produce their own money and ordnance instead of borrowing from everyone else!
Ron Paul wants to stop this “war on terror” madness in it’s tracks before we are at war with two allied opponents that we may not be able to crush as easily as the pissant Iraqi and Afghan armies. He wants to stop the deliberate destruction of our dollar, the deliberate weakening of our industrial base, and the unconstitutional abuses of power that our government is using to control every aspect of our lives!

I personally think there are very good reasons for an advocate of freedom to stay a long way away from Ron Paul. It’s not so much that he is an opponent of abortion and the right to choose—though I don’t see what freedom is about if it’s not about personal choice. But in pursuit of his questionable goals, Paul was willing to introduce a legislative act to deny the federal courts jurisdiction over state-level anti-abortion laws.
Excuse me? This is supposed to be Mr. Constitution talking? The Constitution is, by its own statement, the supreme law of the land; I don’t see how that can be maintained if the courts are not empowered to act on it by overturning legislative acts as unconstitutional. And their right to do so has been recognized since Marbury v. Madison, which is a long time. The Constitution also provides that state governments are required to recognize all the fundamental rights of life, liberty, and property that the federal Constitution enshrines—and again, federal jurisdiction is needed to maintain that. To pursue his own anti-abortion agenda, Paul would strip the Supreme Court of essential powers to maintain our constitutional rights through judicial review.
Of course, this sort of thing has happened before. Back in the New Deal, Roosevelt supporters chanted the slogan “Nine old men!” to protest against the Supreme Court declaring parts of the New Deal unconstitutional. Currently it’s the Republicans who want to strip the court of its powers—and, in effect, make every act of Congress a Constitutional amendment. But whatever the era, it’s always the enemies of freedom who want to take away judicial review. It’s sad that Ron Paul has chosen to join them—but there he is.

Bottom line : If you divide that by the millions his supporters spent, what would be the cost per delegate? I do know this, this campaign has been one expensive laughingstock and I wish to thank the RP camp for funding it for me. It proved an invaluable source of laughter during the WGA strike. Your money would have been better spent buying stock in some military contractor.

While I did not agree with some of the political views espoused by Ron Paul during his campaign it was somewhat refreshing to see a ‘Republican Populist’ for a change instead of the same tired old Bush GOP lackies like John McCain and his ilk. I encourage any disenfranchised Paul supporters to take a close look at Ralph Nader.

And I met Ron Paul afterwards and spoke to him. You could tell that he is an intelligent, thoughtful, and kind man. What I find amusing is that he is for freedom of religion and other basic liberties, ending taxation without representation (IRS), ending unconstitutional wars (Iraq), ridiculous spending on policing the world, reducing government spending and size, getting rid of the Patriot Act, and so on. And people call this crazy (excuse me… kooky…). Hmmm, well, I wonder, I guess 100 year wars, policing the world, no end to taxes, increasing the government, and allowing the government to invade our privacies is sane.
