Local Russians Too Scared Of Putin To Comment
In an award that’s apparently still given out, yesterday Time named Russian overlord Vladimir Putin its Person of the Year. Wait, did that dude get poisoned with polonium this year? I guess so. KYW 1060 went to Northeast Philly to ask the city’s sizable Russian contingent what they felt about Putin’s honor. And, uh, clearly the city’s Russian community understands him pretty well.
“No, really, I don’t know much about it. No, I didn’t think anything bad about Dear Leader. No, don’t put me into the re-education camp!” It’s good to see Hillary Clinton is not as frightening as Putin, though; that’s a good sign for her next November. I’ve been watching Putin since his rise to power in 99 thru google news and other internet resources, because American media refuses to cover any international news unless we have troops there or it’s politically convenient.
I have to say the number one thing that has helped Putin grab more and more power has been our own president, Mr. Bush. Often cited by many dictators time and time again was the Supreme Courts decision in 2000, and his declarations of security over liberties. Add in our illegal war in Iraq and the old soviet propaganda of American Imperialism is quickly reborn in the minds of newly capitalist Russians.
Our foolhardy desire to install a missle sheild in Eastern Europe to protect our ever-expanding NATO allies from the “Iranian threat” has allowed Mr. Putin to further expand militarism, nationalism and anti-Americanism through claims that the shield is intended as a weapon against Russia.
Mr. Putin is the equivalent of a Chess Playing Bond villian, while on our side we have a baseball loving Gomer Pyle.
this might actually be the least funny comment ever posted here. and i’m including friends of barbaro AND the paultards when i say that.
