Pope Tells People To Avoid Dogma With Straight Face

Noted scientist Pope Benedict XVI plans to issue a statement condemning “climate change prophets of doom,” reports some British paper.

Pope Benedict XVI has launched a surprise attack on climate change prophets of doom, warning them that any solutions to global warming must be based on firm evidence and not on dubious ideology. The leader of more than a billion Roman Catholics suggested that fears over man-made emissions melting the ice caps and causing a wave of unprecedented disasters were nothing more than scare-mongering.

The German-born Pontiff said that while some concerns may be valid it was vital that the international community based its policies on science rather than the dogma of the environmentalist movement.

The Pope, who it should be noted will die before the polar ice caps melt anyway, is announcing these remarks on World Peace Day.

Does New Pope look ominous to anyone else? At least John Paul was happy looking - this one reminds me of the evil uncle in Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. Props if you’ve ever seen that movie. More if you love it the way I do.

Holy Crap. That is an ominous picture.

It makes me glad I am an Episcopalian. We are run by a woman and was and oceanographer, so she understands things like science. The Pope was a Nazi and is apparently a nutter.

“…must be based on firm evidence and not on dubious ideology.”

    Hello, pot? This is kettle.

Chrissmari, you are an embarassment to Episcopalians. Trite and ill-informed remarks like yours confirm that anti-Catholicism is the last acceptable prejudice and it makes one wonder how open-minded and tolerant people of your stripes really are.
