As Usual, Alcohol A Requirement To Get People Out

Turnout in Philadelphia was a record low for a race for an open seat. Everybody knew Michael Nutter was going to win, nobody really cares about races for judge and none of the City Council races were close except for David Oh and Jack Kelly, which is 48 votes apart and isn’t decided yet.

In New Jersey, it was more of the same, with the exception of towns that were voting on liquor sales. Turnout in dry areas considering legalizing alcohol was way up, reports the Courier-Post.

Moorestown resident James Winters, 55, said he came out to vote in favor of allowing the sale of alcohol, because it was “about time” to bring the township “up to date.”

Fellow resident Florence Collins, 65, opposed liquor sales. “I think people’s minds are altered enough,” she said. “Let’s try to keep them as clear as possible with whatever little things we can do.”

No word on the results, but one man didn’t vote. The paper quoted him: “To me, it’s all about power, who’s holding the power, who’s pulling the strings. I just see the politicians as puppets.” Probably a Ron Paul voter.
