Political Pressure At Its Finest

From an interview with David Oh posted on Young Philly Politics, a question for the Republican City Council candidate:

Over the summer, the Chamber of Commerce instituted an internship program for young adolescents. What kind of pressure should our political leaders put on businesses to hire interns?

Yes, the pols will pressure you until you hire free summer labor!

You don’t need pressure, you need incentives. Employers who hire unruly public high school kids should all get photos of Alycia Lane in a bikini.

I wish he’d posted more of the exchange on inclusionary housing. I definitely think there’s more than one way of looking at the issue, and I’m sort of on the fence about it, so a point of view from somebody like David Oh would’ve been interesting to hear. Besides, it seems a bit unfair to boil Oh’s response down to that one sentence.

BTW, I love how instead of wanting to just give handouts to people without the skills or education to get a non-burger flipping job he actually wants to create more, higher paying jobs in the city that don’t require highly skilled/educated people to fill them.

    What an idea, huh?
