Whoomp, There It Is!
And who’s the savior? That’s right: A-list lefty blogger Duncan “Atrios” Black!
He’s got the Philly (and Democratic) pessimism down. Hey, this is the only time Atrios and Michael Smerconish will agree on something, probably. The Phillies: Building bridges! Update: Hahahaha Mitch Williams says the Phillies have “been blithering idiots all year” after Shane Victorino hit him with a pie. Mitch ducked a full on blow, but Michael Barkann got one right in the face from Brett Myers. Then Wild Thing called tomorrow night’s starter for the Nationals “the same guy with the bad beard again.” MLB Standings [ESPN.com |

Ack!
Must fight urge…to believe…this…could be…the year…
Stay strong, Lynn. Stay strong.
As for me, I’ve already been given over to flip-flopping between extreme optimism and painful pessimism. It’s an unbreakable cycle, but if you haven’t entered it yet, there’s still hope.
3 games left. 3 games.
Don’t worry, they’ll still find a way to screw it up.
I just checked that Sports Club Stats page you’ve been fond of linking to. How can the Phillies and the Mets both have a greater than 50 percent chance of making the playoffs when the Padres are at 80 percent? I ask you, sir, how can they?
3 teams, two spots.
60%+60%+80%=200%
Also the Padres are in the running still for West, so there are actually 3 playoffs spots in play for 5 teams.
Oh, and go to fucking church or I’d fuck her or AL in bikini.
How can there be >50% chance of Alycia Lane showing up at the first Phillies playoff game wearing a bikini when DMAC refuses to post those photos of her he’s got? How, I ask you!
We will win since the Mets are not the worst team ever. That dishonor goes to the Philadelphia Phillies who really need to add to their 10,000+ losses which no doubt go back to the days when they were the Worcester Ruby Legs. They should go back to Worcester and become a New York-Penn League team, since that is what they deserve - short season A ball.
Nice post Mr. Mut, must be hard to type with that chicken bone caught in your throat.
I just found the radio call of the greatest moment in Philadelphia Phillies history ever. It is awesomely perfect!
Joe Turner?
Alycia Lane in a bikini?
Hmm… Tom Cheek.
That was the name of the Toronto Blue Jays announcer who died in 2005 and made the classic Joe Carter home run call in game 6 of the 1993 World Series which brings a warm feeling of joy to us Mets fans since we all know the Phillies choke due to their history of sucking.
Fun fact:
Mets World Series appearances since 1962: 5
Phillies World Series Appearances since 1903: 5
Now you all should watch this wonderful historic video as it tells you volumes about the Phillies and is quite educational.
Larry Mendte in a bikini?
