As you may have read yesterday, Michael Smerconish was apparently “muzzled” by The View for his extremist views on Al Roker.
Okay, first off, Michael Smerconish on The View is funny enough. And this is even funnier:
So I was pleased when I learned that the program would re-air on July 4, a day when many Americans would be home to tune in. I certainly did.
As much as I think it’s a little ridiculous for a guy with a popular radio show, two newspaper columns in a major American city and numerous cable TV appearances to claim he’s being muzzled (or whatever), I must admit I share Smerconish’s disdain for political correctness — only I thought PC was an issue in the early-to-mid 1990s and we were kind of over it now. But, hey, whatever your shtick is.
I would like to say, though, that The View censored important views by Smerconish, views the liberal media doesn’t want you to know!
The crowd applauded. I continued: “And look what happened. Al Roker is the guy who called for [Imus'] dismissal. Have you followed what’s up with Roker? Roker made a comment last week about folks with epilepsy. And all of a sudden, he’s apologizing . . . one of those phony apologies . . . ‘To the extent that I offended anyone . . .’ ” [see also: Dawn Stensland—dmac]
(Roker had made the joke about epileptic behavior while discussing a video featuring the logo for the 2012 Olympics, which some claimed triggered epileptic seizures. Roker apologized the next day, saying, “If anybody was offended, I heartily and really humbly apologize.”)
Walters cut in and said she didn’t think Roker meant to offend anybody. She then told me she had to “muzzle” me due to the time, and the show ended.
But when the episode was re-broadcast, my comments about Roker were gone, edited out.
How dare the liberal media prevent Smerconish from expressing his views on Al Roker! Smerconish says the remarks were cut because Al Roker’s wife works for ABC, which also airs The View. Once again, Big Roker gets its way at the expense of the American public.

heh, the term “PC” emerged as a topic for national panic while I was still in college, so I guess it started in the late 1980s (although I think you’re right that we “moved on” a decade or so ago)…
(oh, and “Big Roker” made me laugh pretty hard. :)
The 10-year anniversary of the “Water Buffalo Incident” was when I was at college, so I was just subtracting and going by that. Late 80s makes sense, too, though.
I was going to “Big Roker” in terms of “Big Oil” but I think it works so many ways.
