Ugly Shoes Storm Tasteless American Public

In the Inquirer — and on Philly.com under the Paint Shop Pro Phillywomen logo — Inky fashion writer Elizabeth Wellington writes about Crocs, which are apparently ugly shoes that are very popular among idiots.

People love these Crocs not just because they’re idiots, but because the shoes are also comfortable. The shows, however, are so ugly I wouldn’t buy them even if purchasing them would prevent AIDS and cancer. The Colorado-based company that makes Crocs most recently had a $208 million IPO, which is sort of like the jump to conclusions mat having a successful IPO.

And who likes the shoes? Why, those great arbiters of fashion, former Philadelphia Flyers players!

In addition to everyday walkers, the soft shoe has a loyal celebrity following, including actors Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Teri Hatcher and former Philadelphia Flyer Peter Forsberg. [...] The company has also gone into business with former Philadelphia Flyers captain Keith Primeau. Under the name Fury Sports, Crocs will be using Crocite to make antimicrobial protective equipment for hockey players.

Bernie Parent’s Crocs hairpieces will be out in Winter 2008.
