One Alleged Cheater On Another Alleged Cheater

Last year’s Tour de France winner, Floyd Landis, was in the area over the weekend to (1) plug his book and (2) explain that he didn’t cheat. Apparently — whoops! — Landis didn’t actually cheat to win the Tour last year because the tests were screwed up and blah blah blah. So, yeah, he didn’t cheat, apparently; sorry we all thought you were guilty, Floyd! (I don’t really care; I think riders should be able to pump as many drugs as they want into their system, because that makes them faster riders and lets them hit longer home runs. Imagine how far Ryan Howard could hit homers if he were on steroids! But I digress.)

Comcast SportsNet’s John Finger interviewed Landis while he was in his native Lancaster and asked him a bunch of questions, including one about Lance Armstrong.

The guy is obsessed. With whatever he does he is obsessed, and whatever he does he wants to be the best at it. Ultimately, he doesn’t have a lot of close friends because of it and he winds up not being the nicest guy.

It’s nice when athletes don’t mince words, although it would have been more direct if he had just said, “Lance Armstrong is an asshole.”
