Philly Voters: Duh, I’ll Vote For The Guy From TV!

A new poll is out, and — whew! — does it look more and more likely Tom Knox is actually going to win this mayoral race. The new Daily News Keystone Poll shows Knox with a commanding seven-point lead over his closest challenger, Chaka Fattah.

The poll of Democratic voters reads like this: Knox 24%, Fattah 17%, Bob Brady 16%, Michael Nutter 12%, Dwight Evans 10%, Undecided 21%. Although Knox is in the lead, with 21% still undecided — and “undecided” not being an option come election day — it’s still pretty much anybody except Jesus White’s race.

Respondents to the poll said one of the key reasons for Knox’s lead is his constant television ad blitz. That supposedly accounted for Bob Brady’s rise in the polls, too. Not sure why Evans (and, to a lesser and more recent extent, Nutter) didn’t rise in the polls because of television, though, but maybe there’s only so many percentage points to go around. (100, to be precise.)

And if you’re tired of Knox on TV, well, get ready for more! Responding to KYW 1060 about a group attacking him for payday loans — “credit heroin,” they call it — Knox couldn’t take time out to respond:

Knox’s campaign says he was “too busy” filming another political commercial to respond to the coalition.

By May, pretty much the only things on television will be Tom Knox ads and American Idol.
