Milton Manna! Street To Knock Brady Off Ballot?!

Perhaps you thought you wouldn’t hear from Milton Street again until his corruption trial. Perhaps you were wrong. Again.

Bob Brady forgot to list his city pension on his nominating petitions. This left him open to a challenge that could actually knock him off the ballot. (What great rules!) But, really, it seemed like nobody would actually attempt to kick him off the ballot, right?

Duh. Enter Milton Street. The New Jersey resident has decided to challenge Brady’s nominating petitions! I’m not sure if he can do this — I don’t know petition-challenging law offhand — but I’m guessing someone from N.J. can’t challenge a candidate for Philadelphia mayor. But I could be wrong.

Street says his effort will test whether city judges are beholden to Brady as head of the Democratic party: “We’re going to challenge it, and we’re going to see if the courts are going to rule across-the-board for everybody, or if they’re going to make exceptions for the chairman of the Democratic City Committee.”

I don’t even know what the hell Milton is saying there, but he’s back in the news, baby! Yes!

I think to sue to challenge petitions, or a candidacy, you need standing where the election is. So Milton would need to show that he is a registered Philly voter, or get a registered Philly voter to file for him. Might also need to be a D since its a Primary election, but I’m not sure.
