Philadelphia Will Do

Brady’s Elephant In The Room

Could Bob Brady lose the mayor’s race before he even gets to run?

That’s the question on everyone’s minds today (not really) after Brady committed the biggest sin in politics: Forgetting to disclose his city pension on his nominating petitions. Oh no! How could we even ever elect him after committing such a major faux pas!

Brady, in the photo at right doing a jig with Jonathan Saidel, listed only his Congressional salary and income from the Philadelphia Federal Credit Union on his campaign finance form, forgetting to put down his city pension worth somewhere between $5,000 and $50,000.

Kate Phillips, Rendell’s PR person who is currently on leave to work for Bob Brady’s campaign, called it “a human error. A stupid error, but a human error nonetheless.” And, of course, that’s right. Oh no the rich guy running for office forgot to list some money he has from the city every year! It’s not like he didn’t disclose his money gained from an illegal cock- and dwarf-fighting ring or something.

On the plus side, the other candidates know this was simply an error and not something it would be ethical to make a petition challenge over.

Hmm, wait. But it could help them win. I expect a challenge to be filed in five minutes. Hopefully by Jesus White.
